THE WEEK BEFORE THE END -- Just a Minute for Wed. 10-29-08

            Hello out there in the mid-week…

 

            Everyone seems to be sitting on a pin cushion waiting for the other shoe to drop – or something equally weighty.

 

            Every day brings some new revelation to light – plus there seems to be a resurgence in interest in Mr. Obama’s birth certificate since the Governor of Hawaii – a female Republican – has sealed the birth record under lock and key and instructed her staff that no one is to have access to it before the election.

 

            In almost every mail I get more questions and information about Obama’s half-brother living in Kenya – and other bits and pieces that make things uncomfortable riding toward the election. The ACORN mess-up is pretty much a sure thing to at least foul up the process in Florida as well as possibly Ohio and almost all the nets are muttering they don’t think there will be a clear winner on election night… something like a Technicolor three-ringer repeat of the infamous ‘hanging chads’ only this time it will be The Case of the Clouded Screens – or some other electronic glitching.

 

            So… we might as well lean back and enjoy the drama. My wife will be a poll worker on election day so we’ve already cast our votes for ‘the winner’ – at least the hoped for winner. We do so in faith believing the Lord will work things out HIS way – to accomplish HIS will. Nobody had to supervise the Lord’s rescue of the Children of Israel from Pharaoh’s Army – neither did he do any more than equip Gideon’s 300 with pitchers, lamps and shofar horns to cause the Midianites to kill each other in the dark. The odds looked impossible for Jehosophat’s army also but the Lord set ‘ambushes’ that apparently divided the enemy’s host into factions that killed one another. So… if HE did it before – it’s not beyond HIS ability to do something extraordinary in HIS time to deliver us out of this quandary – if deliverance is deserved. We are challenged to FAST and PRAY for victory. There are lives of children yet unborn which hang in the balance.

 

            I’m so glad I’m on the winning side – not speaking of this political jousting – but of the battle against Satan.

Jack: About what Miz Pearlie?

MizP: Ah’ skeered of the stock market – an’ electin’ Mr. Obama, an … an

Homer: Miz Pearlie, hit hain’t a good thang ta' git wrapped-up tite aroun’ th’ spindle.

BB: Did ja heer that, Mr. Jack?

Jack: I did Billy-Bob – I agree, there’s no use getting upset about any of that.

Homer: Mr. Jack, You tole me one time whut Stonewall Jackson said ta' his genrals.

BB: Yeah – Ah ‘member too… You said Gen’l Jackson told ‘em “Never take counsel of your fears, sir.”

Jack: Right… There’s a far better resource….

MizP: Yeah – you said -- th’ answer’s in th’ Bible.

Jack: Sure -- “Some trust in chariots, some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” That’s Psalm 20 verse 7

Homer: An you said “some he puts up and some he puts down…”

Jack: That’s Daniel Chapter 5 the last part of verse 19.  So, see Miz Pearl, if we belong to the Lord

and are trusting in Him, it’s going to work out for the absolute best.

MizP: -- Oh I know hit – ah really do – Ah jist need to renew my trustin’ in the Law-ud.

BB: But whut ifn’ hit turns out Mr. Obama wasn’t even born in the U.S.A.?

Jack: We’ll leave that to the Lord to work out also.  Just wait and see.
