CHICAGO'S CROWNING GLORY BOY -- for JUST A MINUTE Radio on Thursday 110630

The heat just keeps on rolling in… although it’s supposed to be slightly moderated today.

However… we’re back in more or less drought mode…gardens and grass begin to wilt – and we get closer to ‘firecracker day’ – be carful with the squibs.

We apparently have a game of “Dodge Em’s” going on in Capitol Hills environs. This week I believe the House has gone home even though it was not on their schedule.  They were just piqued the Senate was going to take some days off so they elected apparently decided not to be out “Vacated” – and now they have terrible ‘Searchlite’ Harry on their backs… saying if you’re not here… then we’re not going to be here…

And  the President gets to opine that “somebody needs to be watchin’ the store and be on the job passing these bills that are *important* -- he says all this having played two rounds of golf last weekend… and then gets upset because the Senate or the House or somebody was missing.  He should have looked in the mirror – it was him.

And I’ve heard he’s managed to find 29 government reasons to be traveling out of the Capital so he can write off the trip as ‘government business’ – and his campaign has to pay  for a much smaller portion of the AF-one bill not to mention the other security detail that involves planes and hauling other vehicles out of the Capitol etc. etc.

If we really want to cut back fossil fuel consumption – fly the President around in a cheaper to operate plane – especially on campaign trips – and charge the party for all of the expenses to make a political trip.

Ah well… ‘tis a difficult row to hoe – trying to keep things straight. Does it seem to you like the President is getting greyer around the temples?  My wife has called that to my attention several times in recent days. I don’t know what’s to be done about it?

CHICAGO’S CROWNING GLORY BOY

Just a Minute: Roger Simon, writes politics for “Politico” a blog -- and grew up on Chicago’s south side. Victorious President Obama had every right to tell the Illinois Governor whom he favored to fill his seat. Rahm Emanuel, conveyed the news to “Blago” but there were no accompanying perks like a Cabinet seat or an ambassadorship.

Drawing back an empty palm Blago was outraged“For nothin’”? he exploded -- and set up a plan to appeal to his father-in-law Richard Mell, ward boss and Chicago alderman and even Michelle because: ‘[the President is…]more henpecked than me,’ Blago says

First trial, his lawyers keep him off the stand – he gets a hung jury on every count except one. Second trial – “common in movies, rare in real life” – convinces his defense attorneys to put him on the stand. -- Simon quotes a Chicago ‘insider’ – “You could cut off his head and he wouldn’t be any dumber.”

Tapes revealed ‘Blago’ holding back $8 million in state funding to the state’s largest children’s hospital unless he gets $50 thousand dollars in a campaign contribution. Lawyers, shrug it off -- “Chicago Style.” Now looks like Blago may get to sample “Prison Style.”

HEAD FOR CILLIZZA'S HOT CHILI - Just a Minute Radio for Wednesday 110829

Hello once again right in the middle of the week…

We’re looking at the political race for next year beginning to grow a *little* maturity.  After all you don’t spend *all* your life growing up – but it appears that all the lessons that should be learned in earlier stages of ‘getting on top of things’ have been largely passed over – or under – and from here on out it’s going to be a down and dirty fight – it’s already taking on those aspects.

One glimmering light in the heavens is the conviction of Illinois erstwhile governor on 17 counts of illegal behavior. Well it’s better than the first “Illinois” noise of the earlier trial. Now it appears while it’s still a drawn-out process it will yet take a while – and a whole lot of scrubbing – to get Illinois back on its feet and in a legitimate, legal type of operation.

It is said that when one of the northern ‘carpet-baggers’ had been in South Carolina,-- raking off ill-gotten gains through abuse of the weakened governmental system and all the problems attendant upon the South being on the losing side, one of the South Carolina representatives stood up on the House Floor and said: “Boys, there’s still another 10 good years of stealin’ in South Carolina.”  Which so infuriated the native southerners – it caused the formation of the Wade Hampton ‘Red Shirts’ and the rifle clubs etc. which gave the South its own bloody history for the next 30-40 years.

Those are dark spots on the American pages – that do not quickly fade out of sight. We are still suffering the residue of those unhappy days – and I suppose there are many books yet to be written (or kindled or ‘nooked’ or whatever’s in the offing for the printed past) before the past is no longer pro-logue in the South. We’ll just pray for the right mixture and leaders.

Cordially, IN HIM

DO FLAKES MAKE FLUKES OFTEN? - for Just A Minute Radio Tuesday 110628

These summer mornings are quite nice – enjoyable.

The afternoons… especially the late afternoons around 4:30 forward… not so sure. Yesterday we had thunder… and some sprinkles… not enough to do us good just enough to make us wonder if we did right in not bringing the BIG umbrella. Is it going to be a frog-strangler… or can we get by with a light sprinkle? The heat builds and the humidity… I find mornings better for walking the dog.

For the flower and vegetable gardeners… it’s hard to tell, unless you’re part farmer and realize every year is not the same. Some years the tomatoes do better… some year the beans especially the runners.  Some years the peaches—you can just hardly wait till the free stones come in … or you can’t get over the Michigan cherry crop and wish it would just go on and on.

I guess that’s part of the attraction to growing things. To see if you can make it come out a little better this year than it did last year.

Is the same thing true of politics?  Well one thing’s for certain we have shorter growing seasons in agriculture than we do in politics.  There are folks out there who are already writing off 2012 and setting their sights on 2016… not 2014 but 2016… already at the next set of Presidential conventions and all that goes with that.

I’m afraid I’ve sort of lost interest in that… at least in the long-range view.  I’d rather not hear anything about it for a while…. Let it sneak up on me.  Give me a chance to enjoy the grandchildren and even the great grandchildren whose names and birthdays I can’t keep track of.

Well… that’s creeping off into family matters – and everyone’s family is different. I think we ought to think of our world that way.  Seasons come and seasons go but the family goes on for a long time… and we’re blessed if we can be involved in it a lot.

I guess I’ll stop my little commercial there… I need to work on our family album – and the monthly newsletter.  Do you do that I try but other things get in the way.  Don’t let them get in the way… get in the way yourself.  You’ll be a great help to those kids and grand kids… and even the great grandkids if you take the time to write down some of the things you now know – you wish you had known then.  Even include a few pictures and observations.

It makes fun for everybody.  Got to quit now… time’s running out for today… after 11:30… the brain turns into a pumpkin at 12 – at least it feels that way.

Love you all… drop me a line sometime.

God bless you all – IN HIM

Barbara and Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

DO FLAKES MAKE FLUKES OFTEN?

Just a Minute: Generally I hear FOX NEWS Sunday afternoon coming home from church – I almost drove off the road when Chris Wallace asked Michele Bachmann if she was a ‘flake.’ What a stupid ungracious question; just plain well… dumb.

Most people won’t remember Chris’ father – Mike – who was a ‘terror of the airwaves’ in the 50’s and 60’s. He owned a terrorist’s reputation for asking the ‘357 Magnum’ question which could blow most interviewees out of their shoes.  My advice, in the ‘Goldwater Days’ was: ‘Don’t even go in the same studio with him.’

Chris’s father had a reputation of shooting for the tenderest spot – I marked it down as sadism – but it earned him a living, and a reputation that still lingers. This recent ‘flake’ fluke by Chris, is proof heredity sometimes embarrasses us. Chris has apologized to Mrs. Bachmann, and did it right away. I also think he did her campaign a favor – because she handled the challenge so well – and came out of it much stronger.  I’m glad, and wish her continued success. I hope she doesn’t have to go through that kind of ‘cold-fish-in-the-face’ moment again.

CAN "VAN" JONES START A LIBERAL TEA PARTY? - for JUST A MINUTE Radio - Monday 110627

Welcome to a spell of somewhat calmer weather along the Caroliner line.

We’ve had some ‘threatening’ clouds but the chance of rain for the most part seems to be below 30% so we’re pretty much in the clear.  And that’s welcome especially when people have been looking at the major flood waters in North Dakota.  It’s not like we’re expecting that here… but just looking at the muddy waters lapping at the hastily constructed levees makes one appreciate living in less flood prone neighborhoods.

Today’s just a minute is a re-play of Mr. Van (Anthony) Jones – who is described in an Internet posting as a Tennessee boy who ‘made good’ --- although that title is somewhat challenged.

Van has major ivy-league scholastic credentials and lots of neighborhood organizing etc. accolades on his belt. But calling Congressional members words we don’t print on this (or many more) blogs earned him a shorter stay in Mr. Obama’s favor than I believe he expected.

The word is he is yearning for the kind of ‘clout’ (If that’s the right word.) which the Tea Party folks have accumulated over the 12-14 months of their existence in the current iteration. They were ‘adopted’ more than a year ago by the parade lead by talk-show host broadcaster Glenn Beck – who has carved out quite a spot for himself in week-day radio and even a Sunday re-play commands high enough ratings on radio to get the Fox News radio net to carry it on Sundays.

The questioning I ran across in my Internet browsing was can he (Jones) command enough of an audience consistently to warrant he continuation of the radio-TV world Mr. Beck seems to be leading?  Obviously he believes he is… as he strikes out on his own – and I think is proposing – or at least has some plans – for a network type arrangement for the material he’s been conjuring up this last year and a half (or so) on the FOX TV net?  I’m no experienced guru in that world – but there are lots of broadcasters I’ve missed the mark on – mostly because I’m not in that world 24/7 and really don’t have the experience to be able to tell much even if I operated in that ambit.

So… the best I can do is say “we’ll see.”  (Not very daring is it?) Reacting personally, I think most programming – even the good stuff – tends to have a somewhat fixed shelf-life.  Although the lengthy runs of some of the TV soaps into the 20 year+ categories really astounds me.  (I don’t think I’ve ever even seen half a program… which probably tells more about me than the program.)

Anyway… I’m looking – and if/when I see something interesting… I’ll post it here and you’re welcome to react. I don’t however issue warranties. (J)

“JUST A MINUTE”

CAN “VAN” JONES START A LIBERAL TEA PARTY

Just a Minute: “Van,” Jones – who complains he’s simply the target of Glenn Beck’s attacks – has rejoined the “Green Jobs” think-tank he left when summoned to White House service for President Obama. But his high profile offenses and vulgar language directed at Congressional Republicans earned him an ouster from the Obama Administration in September 2009.

A few months later, however, – according to the Washington Post – he’s returned to the CAP – Center for American Progress (CAP) welcomed back by John Podesta – friend of the erstwhile White House Chief of staff and soon to be former CIA director, Leon Panetta. Jones is jealous of the attention and power of the Tea Party. He wonders publically, if people like himself – can start their own. He’s admitted to being a [quote] “full flown radical” and “Communist”.

He’s a graduate of Yale law school, also holds a joint appointment at Princeton, -- a distinguished visiting fellow in both the Center for African American Studies and the Woodrow Wilson School for Political Affairs.

Well, … looks as if he ought to be able to form some kind of party.

JERRY BROWN PAINTS HIMSELF IN THE CORNER -- Just A Minute Radio for Friday 110624

We cannot seem to get our fill of “exuberant” weather!

Night before last about dusk we had a windstorm that knocked out quite a few patrons’ power. In our case it managed to fill both front yard and back yard with leaves and limbs – enough to get me to retrieving our chain saw and other cutting tools to see if we can clean up the trash under these trees that seems to grow and get thrown down from ‘on high’ so often. (We will have loaded the little green pickup with three or more loads of debris when this is all over.)  The blessing is: although the showers have been quite heavy at times and widely scattered – we seem to be easing our way out of the drought that seemed to be developing rapidly.

Thankfully we have had ‘showers of blessing’ in the rain even though sometimes and places it was accompanied by hail. One nearby church had several cars damaged to the amount of 3-4 thousand dollars of repairs required to restore them to respectable looking vehicles. It also damaged my ‘pet’ hibiscus bush… the one which had been blooming quite well after being coaxed through the winter and had put forth several large and beautiful blossoms.  Now it has lovely foliage… albeit rather tattered from the hail… but the ice pellets seem to have damaged its spirit because no more blossoms have presented themselves in the past couple of weeks.

Well… the world goes on. Today’s program sees the California Legislature getting angry at a bill it passed on itself – and the Governor (Jerry Brown) got upset with them passing such a patchwork of gimmicks to try and sew together a budget to let the State continue limping along. Since the CA legislature controls both houses and the Governor’s office… it’s hard to see how they have anyone but themselves to blame for the fiscal quandary in which they find themselves. That it is a mess is indisputable. That it is a Gordian Knot of their own making is likewise.

However, I will give them this… No one is engaged in ‘blaming the other party’ for the current mess they’re in. The “buck stops right” here is the theme song of the Gold Rush State’s Sacramento shenanigans. Nobody else to blame.  Perhaps the people of California, not wanting to continue to be “Peck’s Bad Boy” among all the states will perhaps before long shame itself into respectability and bring its house to order.  We certainly hope so.

Meanwhile, of Jerry Brown and the fix he is in with his party in his state – headed by people he advocated… well… the only think I can think of to write is: “It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy!”

“JUST A MINUTE”

JERRY BROWN PAINTS HIMSELF IN THE CORNER

Just a Minute: Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown, vetoed the budget put together by the state’s Democrat controlled legislature. It was gimmicky with various accounting tricks and tax hikes (forbidden by the State’s constitution), just to close the gap. But the Dems forgot one thing… they had written a law also that forbade paying legislators’ salaries if they failed to pass a budget by the deadline of June 15.

Anger welled up and Democrats accused Democrats. Typical mix-up for the ‘Golden State.’ So the Democrats leaders jumped all over the Democrat controller Johnny Chiang for stopping their paychecks. Why the nerve of the guy! Mr. Chiang announced he will obey the law they passed. .

The Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, had warned the legislators the budget was risky. Democrat legislators complained in the Sacramento Bee – a very liberal newspaper – they were being ‘treated like children’ and that other controllers and officials had approved it before… Why were California Democrat leaders suddenly acting like adults?

I know… blame it on “global warming.”<>I’m Jack Buttram. (end)

FW: LOTS OF LATINOS LIKE THE SOUND OF R-R TICKET - for Just A Minute Radio Thursday 110623

Wonderful day… We’re glad to be alive with the winds that crashed around here recently.

Last evening we had some really vigorous tree-trimming being done by the winds. I don’t know if you’ve noticed how many places in the USA have been troubled by one thing or another… winds, hail, floods, Japan has had more quakes of the 6+ variety on the Richter scale…Makes a feller wonder just what’s going on.

I’m not a great believer in the climate change crisis mainly because of the perceived character of those who back it or seem to profit greatly from it.  Makes the cause suspect in my book. Does that make me skeptical, cautious or looking for goblins under the bed?  I guess I’ll pick the first on the list. My Dad was rather thoughtful along those lines. I used to ask about the value of things I saw in the pawn shop window. We often walked home from the RR station where I met him when he got off from his work as a Rwy. Postal Clerk.  He was – or communicated to me – caution about things I didn’t fully understand. Like the little key punch cards where you could get a punch out for a nickel that usually just got you a piece of paper with an axiom on it… or maybe a piece of bubble gum if you were lucky and it wasn’t stale.

I think he let me take my chances there because they were small and since I was spending my own allowance money – and essentially ‘throwing it away’ – I think he figured better to let me learn how little ‘gambling’ pays off… when the lessons were cheap(er).

Anyway… I think about him every time I see these double-bargain $19.95 plus S&H offers on the TV… and other gambits to remove you from association with your money.  And I thought about him again this past weekend.  My kids and grandkids were so thoughtful to provide me little reminders of Father’s Day… how blessed. I’m thankful… and especially thankful for my Heavenly Father – who I suppose also lets me learn things with a degree of discomfort.  Guessing wrong when the prize isn’t too expensive… but hurts in the already slim pocketbook – isn’t such a bad technique. I don’t suppose I really employed it enough.

Back to the storm – I see a grandson working on a car he’s trying to repair in order to sell… he’s put in a LOT more work than he intended when he got excited about cars being available here somewhat like they were in Hawaii – ready to be sold… hopefully at a profit… not a ‘killing’ but an honest profit. I’m glad he’s learning…and he’s diligent – and he’s in my prayers.

Well… we’ll let the Lord continue to send us the kind of wx we need… He knows how much rain, wind etc. we need. I’m willing to take my lessons from HIS hands.

Have a great day—

Cordially, IN HIM

Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

LOTS OF LATINOS LIKE THE SOUND OF R-R TICKET

Just a Minute: The GOP’s VP slot on the primary ticket is an open gate – and lot of Florida voters like the sound of Romney-Rubio.  Marco Rubio, a Latino in an electoral-vote rich state; speaks without a discernable accent; has recently won a contested senate seat, and is an energetic campaigner. Plus he fills a GOP need to tie in to Hispanic voters...

Contacts in the Romney camp say: “Doesn’t a Romney-Rubio ticket sound great?" A senior Romney advisor reportedly adds: "We think this would be a dream ticket."  It’s also logical for others to desire such strength added to the team.

Marco was proposed for the presidential race but demurred because he’s new to the Senate. However he’s already a proven vote getter – an important consideration in swing-state Florida, where it’s vital to winning the contest. Plus, he’s a certified conservative, and has respect among the tea-party voters.

It ought to be noted too, many of the same factors would come into play if Minnesota’s former governor, Tim Pawlenty, becomes the GOP standard bearer.

NOW YOU'LL *HAVE* TO BUY A PROGRAM! -- Just A Minute Radio for Wednesday 110622

Beautiful day in the offing?  The question mark is about the only sure thing we know about the weather these days.

It seems to have ‘settled’ into an ‘unsettled’ pattern and continues to be ‘settled there’ – which as you may imagine keeps us all on tenterhooks.

A piece appeared in the local paper which purported to inform us residents in a corner of “Upstate South Carolina” that the TV markets used to call the ‘biggest’ in our state because it combines two urban areas with a LOT of ‘little towns’ – mill towns they used to be or rural farming communities.  I’ve not seen the numbers ‘for real’ since the census (and since my wife worked for that effort about 20 years ago and saw ‘close-up’ how many errors are probably included in the process) well we don’t put a very fine point on the data that is published.

However… as one farmer said to another when he was jolting along in his ‘repaired’ farm wagon equipped with an ill-repaired wheel he had managed on his own --
“Yep… ‘tis a nearly square wheel – but ‘tis better’n no wheel a-tall.’”  So that’s the way things are in this part of the world.

We had a power outage this past week the newspaper (such as it is) described as one of the longest lasting in recent history.  Well… the overall market figures used for this part of the Carolinas – when you start merging metropolitan areas together to get an aggregate number attractive to advertisers is probably between ¼ to 1/3rd of a million people.  You can break it down from there for whatever purpose you need – selling soap, cigarettes or gasoline. But the cigarettes will gitcha if you don’t watch out. I haven’t smoked since high school and even now feel guilty admitting it… but there’s no doubt there are people who want to know what you’re doing and how you’re doing it – with what – so they can sell you some more of something!  So progress turns out to be hindered by technology in some fashion.

I have despaired of keeping up with the latest in *personal* technological gadgets. I just want a phone to facilitate communication… not to take pictures… or play games or music… Do that if you wish… but leave me out of it. I no longer have the desire or the dollars. (J)

Once more I missed my midnight deadline and have to cut it off… but then I did escape a lot of questions. (J)

SLOWLY THE CAMPAIGN SOUP BEGINS TO BUBBLE - for Just A Minute Radio on Tuesday 110621

Whew – just got back in here in time to get the hobby-horse saddled…

I’m detecting the first faint whiffs of campaigning. I don’t think anyone has stuffed a flyer in my hand – usually because my hands are full. And I guess I shy away from crowds and cheerleading and pom-poms and all that unless it’s the outbreak of the high-school football season. (I abandoned pro-ball a long time ago.)  Too many prima-donnas and not enough skill on the field.

In fact I think we have too much ‘professionalism’ in what used to be school yard fun. I did get to play some basketball and baseball in high school – but that was because it was a country h.s. and *everybody* had to participate in everything or there was a hole in the plan. So I got to be a not-very-accurate guard in basketball…(there were other country boys taller than I was) … and on the baseball team I was the catcher… (we had no substituted as I recall…) one of the mountain top boys was quite good at pitching – and the backstop wasn’t very far behind me so, if I dropped it… it couldn’t get very far away. (J)… As a hitter … I’d guess I was a hot batter at about 180… (L)… but we enjoyed the “play” – we didn’t go out on strike because the powers that be didn’t pay enough. It was *still* a game – and we learned how to be ‘sportsmen’… Something that’s been lost in the shuffle.

By the time my boys got to high school age… if you weren’t pro-ball material… you didn’t get on the team. (L)… That was a loss for the kids.

Well… here I am up on the soap-box once again… but the tail of sports wags the dog nowadays. And if you don’t bring the not-so-great kids along and get them some experience… well…everybody loses.

Pro-sports… it’s just business in my book. The only exception (and even it is badly battered) is baseball… and I’ll go into that another day… but I still enjoy seeing the minor league guys play in our town.  They’re good enough to be enjoyed – and not so great as to make you wish you’d stayed home. People cheer… and the other evening… the management probably spent close to $1000 just for post game entertainment… maybe more than that… but everybody wasn’t running for the bus or in a big hurry to get home.  We made it with several stops to drop folks off.. and could still get in bed shortly after 10:30… Enjoyable!  Take me out to the ball game!

Well… now I’ve made all the golfers and pro football, hockey and basketball players and fans angry.  Sorry… add pro-wrestling to the things I don’t enjoy. I like to see people doing good things – having an excellent time and enjoyment for all… not just the stars.  Sorry… it’s the way I’m wired.

Have a great Day! Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

SLOWLY THE CAMPAIGN SOUP BEGINS TO BUBBLE

Just a Minute: We’ve still got a long way to go to fill out the whole dance card for the coming Republican primary contest. New faces are in the line up of usual suspects.

Michele Bachmann has – in my opinion – made the first tactical error in taking on Ed Rollins – former pugilist – as a campaign advisor. Already she has had to rein him in for his gang criticizing Sarah Palin. Not a good start.

Mr. Romney has occasioned comment about his slippery hold on anti-abortion. I don’t know exactly how it happened – but it did. Tim Pawlenty can’t quite get his engine cranked sufficiently – and Texas Governor Rick Perry was quite open about launching a few ‘critiques’ his way when visiting in the editorial offices of the Wall St. Journal.

Perry professes reluctance to join the fray saying he’s not sure America is ready for another Texas governor – presumably over fed on Bushisms – but he was well received by the Saturday Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans where he said the GOP should not shrink from addressing leadership issues.

Well… the battle is not quite joined – but we’ll see. I’m Jack Buttram. (end)

OBAMA-"SCARE" IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE LIVING ROOM - for JUST A MINUTE Radio Monday 110620

How nice to have you here as we start over.

The week has some interesting possibilities. Some issues could ripen quickly – but often with the Senate in the picture, the pace goes agonizingly slow. That’s more likely. Instead of ‘hurry up and wait’ the Senate’s model seems to transmogrify to: “Diddle around as long as you can and fall all over yourself when deadline time finally comes.”

Well… the only time *we’re* empowered to do something about it is every two and four years… House, President and Senate (they get the cushy six year term.)  This year 1/3 of the existing Senators are up for re-election… and it makes predictions even more dicey … (as in – throw the dice). I forget or get mixed up on just when the newly gerrymandered districts come into play. I *believe* they happen next time. State governors and legislators are busy little bees with their plots and adding machines – doing what they can to push enemies out of the way and make way for those they perceive to be on their side. It’s a wonder this strung-together government works as well as it does. And at 200+ years its age is beginning to show.  BUT – talk like that stirs up thoughts of a Constitutional convention. Woe be to us. I’m not sure we have enough *statesmen* left in the box to properly trust them to play the game squarely.  Wisconsin is giving us a first hand example of how badly things can get off track. But I’m satisfied to see the Lord is in charge.  IF we will repent and turn to HIM.

The difficulty is trying to see through the fog. I thought Jim DeMint had a good plan on the Senate floor… but enough were questioning it so it didn’t make much progress. I suppose we shall have to learn more slowly – and painfully. Oh – Memories of Jimmy Carter’s turn in the WH… and Bill Clinton… may we be spared Dear Lord!

But I am fully persuaded HE knows what is best – and from the speech Daniel gave Belshazzar – HE *continues* to know best even when we think HE doesn’t.

Well… that’s a confusing enough start on the week to make it an interesting one. Drop me a line sometime… I’m always open to your thoughts.

“JUST A MINUTE”

OBAMA-“SCARE” IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE LIVING ROOM

Just a Minute: An ominous cloud hangs over the horizon under an OBAMA-“SCARE” label. Three BIG targets will be primary in the coming political season: The Debt Ceiling stands first – “ObamaScare” is the second – and Labor Law Revision i.e. Revising Right-to-Work Laws’ – all stand primed and ready in Mr. Obama’s nightmare closet.

Over 3.1 Million individuals and families have by late April, received exemption from Obamascare by HHS Secretary Sebelius.  Question: If it’s such a good deal why are so many asking to be let out of it?  Speaking of good deals: union members constitute 12 percent of all employees but have received over 50 percent of Obamascare exemptions. Anything smell like political contributions?

What’s so tainted about these Chicago-style shenanigans? Michael Barone – who writes about it a lot, says: “Obama promised transparent government – but hasn’t delivered. In urging Latinos not to sit out the election the President said: 'We're going to punish our enemies … reward our friends who stand with us … on issues important to us.’ ”

That’s not exactly government of, by and for the people.  I’m Jack Buttram. (end)
