HOW THE MSM MISSES THE MAJOR STORY -- for JUST A MINUTE Radio 110616

I was wondering if I would have to amble over to the radio studio to get JUST A MINUTE on the air today.

Sometime during the early evening a tornadic wind/lightning/thundering/rain etc. event, skipped its way over the E. Lee Rd. area in Taylors – where we are sheltered by big tulip poplar trees and left its mark.  The mark apparently was a swath of decimated large trees, blocking roads and shutting off power to a large portion of Taylors, SC – an unincorporated BIG (territory) Zip Code. .

It’s not apparent what else happened – or where – because when we came home from our daughter’s home in West Greenville… our entire neighborhood was without electric power. Calls to Duke Energy were courteously answered – but gave us no clue when power might be restored.

Being a ‘night owl’ in the composition department – there was nothing to do but check with the local fire heroes… who were OK in their generator-powered station – and get the details of the damage. Checking out the area of damage… there were several large trees down and blocking Taylors’s Rd. on the east side of beautiful downtown Taylors… but other parts were lit up.

You can’t make a computer run on ‘candlepower’ “or coal-oil lamps for that matter” – and so I went confidently to bed with the mechanical clock alarm set to go off at 5:45 AM in the dark of the night.

Fortunately the power crews did their jobs well… and the lights came back on briefly around 3:30… with more darkness up till around 4 AM – so we apparently got through the night OK… Barbara needs to use a C-pap breathing apparatus for deep sleep… but she soldiered through OK… and is off to a hair appointment this morning… Nothing stops a hair appointment. (J) – So we are embarked on a Thursday – during which I believe I will have to take a ‘make up’ nap… to ‘make up’ for the interrupted sleep last night. (Yawn!)

I hope your home is OK… and you have a great day.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

HOW THE MSM MISSES THE MAJOR STORY

Just a Minute: Our “Lame Stream Media” – so labeled by Limbaugh and others –misses the mark on the international front and the current ‘unrest’ in China.

American media has very limited tolerance for international news unless it involves, scandal, soldiers going to war or a big Defense budget causing budget strain at home.  International news gets shoved out of the way by liberal loudmouths expounding their own views while ignoring pressures and conflicts building up elsewhere.

That’s why we essentially missed the ‘popcorn’ effect of several revolutions around the Mediterranean.  Most media would rather cover conflict comics and loudmouths like Barney Frank or David Letterman.

China has major unrest from migrant workers in Guangdong province – put down with tear gas, tanks and propaganda. Major struggles over oil and gas reserves thought to be in the South China Sea – read or seeing much about it?  Not likely. Is our ‘watchdog’ media so preoccupied with domestic elections more than a year away? – Or just taking a nap?
