I WISH I COULD JUST ERASE THE WHOLE THING! - For JUST A MINUTE Radio - Friday 110610

Welcome to the END OF THE WEEK… Hope you have a Grrrrrrreat! Weekend….

This has been a rather mixed up week for us.  And we had two ‘old’ friends pass away this past week. On Friday is the funeral for one – the other service is out of state.

We have been enjoying the company of four grandsons and their parents.  The whole family is in the transition of moving from Hawaii… where they were a missionary family – with one of the four boys off to college. Now that boy is graduated and for the next 12 months or so he will be doing a “shadowing” of a friend who is a long time family MD. We are greatly appreciative of this opportunity for Jon to see the inner workings of a family practice and get a ‘leg up’ on his first year of medical school. It’s going to be a busy one.

Meantime they are seeking the Lord’s will about their next ministry assignment either from the mission they’ve been with for 25 years or so… or if the Lord should lead them into another field of service … their youngest is finishing high school, the other two have their GED’s already and are seeking what employment or ministry the Lord would have them in and we would appreciate your prayers for them all. They want to serve the Lord.  Praise the Lord – the (and we) are all “in pretty good shape for the shape we’re in.”  Which is not saying a lot… but we believe the Lord has lead us along the way thus far and HE will lead us *all the way.*

Our great family doctor (we’ve been under his care -- Barb and I) since about 1975 – so he has charts on us that are thick as two telephone books. We each have our treatments, ailments and are thankful for the blessings of having available such good medical care. We are also so very grateful for those who have contributed to the children’s support along the way. How wonderful it is to see how the Lord has supplied. We’ve not been long without employment – although there were times when we didn’t know where the next check was coming from. And nowadays we’re mostly retired and have to watch the $$$ carefully and are somewhat restricted in the travel and other expenditures we formerly could make.  But the Lord has *always* met our needs one way or another – and proven HIS care and kindness.

Well… I need on to get to bed – we need to leave for the funeral around noon over in Anderson, SC… we’ll meet some old friends there as we bid another old friend’s memory Adios for the present.

May I just say how much we appreciate hearing from you folks… Don’t hesitate to write or call, or contact us through the radio station.  There’s not always a lot that we can DO… but we CAN *always* pray.

Thanks for sticking with us – we enjoy hearing from you – and God bless you all.

Cordially, IN HIM

Barbara and Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

I JUST WISH I COULD ERASE THE WHOLE THING!

Just a Minute: If the President loses next year, this week could mark the beginning of his political unraveling. By contrast, Gov. Pawlenty, of Minnesota might view it in an opposite light.

Austan Goolsby, the President’s top economics adviser, announces he’s returning to the University of Chicago soon – preserving his tenure and demonstrating a 20-20 crystal-ball view.  Meantime, Tim Pawlenty’s picture in the news columns reveals a huge smile of recognition that virtually nothing the President has done so far attempting to stabilize the U.S. economy has worked.  Pawlenty’s pitch for lower personal and corporate taxes -- including capital gains and dividends – sounds a welcome note for economic growth, in contrast to Mr. Obama’s economic stumbles.

Of course there’s many a -- slip ‘twixt the cup and the lip – as the saying goes. And Mr. Obama will likely have some better days.  But since I’ve already crawled out on Gov. Pawlenty’s limb, I think I’ll just stay out here.  It’s more exciting, as they say to have some ‘skin in the game’. I’ll stick with my earlier prediction.
