How nice to have you here as we start over.
The week has some interesting possibilities. Some issues could ripen quickly – but often with the Senate in the picture, the pace goes agonizingly slow. That’s more likely. Instead of ‘hurry up and wait’ the Senate’s model seems to transmogrify to: “Diddle around as long as you can and fall all over yourself when deadline time finally comes.”
Well… the only time *we’re* empowered to do something about it is every two and four years… House, President and Senate (they get the cushy six year term.) This year 1/3 of the existing Senators are up for re-election… and it makes predictions even more dicey … (as in – throw the dice). I forget or get mixed up on just when the newly gerrymandered districts come into play. I *believe* they happen next time. State governors and legislators are busy little bees with their plots and adding machines – doing what they can to push enemies out of the way and make way for those they perceive to be on their side. It’s a wonder this strung-together government works as well as it does. And at 200+ years its age is beginning to show. BUT – talk like that stirs up thoughts of a Constitutional convention. Woe be to us. I’m not sure we have enough *statesmen* left in the box to properly trust them to play the game squarely.
The difficulty is trying to see through the fog. I thought Jim DeMint had a good plan on the Senate floor… but enough were questioning it so it didn’t make much progress. I suppose we shall have to learn more slowly – and painfully. Oh – Memories of Jimmy Carter’s turn in the WH… and Bill Clinton… may we be spared Dear Lord!
But I am fully persuaded HE knows what is best – and from the speech Daniel gave Belshazzar – HE *continues* to know best even when we think HE doesn’t.
Well… that’s a confusing enough start on the week to make it an interesting one. Drop me a line sometime… I’m always open to your thoughts.

“JUST A MINUTE”
OBAMA-“SCARE” IS THE ELEPHANT IN THE LIVING ROOM
Just a Minute: An ominous cloud hangs over the horizon under an OBAMA-“SCARE” label. Three BIG targets will be primary in the coming political season: The Debt Ceiling stands first – “ObamaScare” is the second – and Labor Law Revision i.e. ‘Revising Right-to-Work Laws’ – all stand primed and ready in Mr. Obama’s nightmare closet.
Over 3.1 Million individuals and families have by late April, received exemption from Obamascare by HHS Secretary Sebelius. Question: If it’s such a good deal why are so many asking to be let out of it? Speaking of good deals: union members constitute 12 percent of all employees but have received over 50 percent of Obamascare exemptions. Anything smell like political contributions?
What’s so tainted about these Chicago-style shenanigans? Michael Barone – who writes about it a lot, says: “Obama promised transparent government – but hasn’t delivered. In urging Latinos not to sit out the election the President said: 'We're going to punish our enemies … reward our friends who stand with us … on issues important to us.’ ”
That’s not exactly government of, by and for the people. I’m Jack Buttram. (end)
