HOW MUCH DOES EXPERIENCE COUNT - Just a Minute for Tuesday 10-28-08

            Greetings and salutations –

For all of you getting discouraged about the polls – remember they are but ‘rootless weathervanes’ – they tell only which way the hardest blowhards are blowing at the moment. Plus there’s been a ton of mass persuasion material floating around out there to mess up the minds of the minority of the electorate who really want to think through the issues.

I’ve been greatly deceived by the polls and frankly given up paying much more attention to them than I do the calendar or change of seasons. Spring may be late – or Fall – but the leaves always turn and come to the ground and the weather gets cold. Sure we may have dry years…sometimes, like now… several in a row. But the Lord sends the rain upon the just and the unjust – and he knows the sparrow’s fall plus the number of hairs on your head – or for that matter your red blood count. So… just keep in mind nothing is beyond HIS knowledge OR HIS control.

It’s always comforting to me to re-read the account of Joseph who was sold into slavery by his own brothers… and the … We would say ‘tragic’ turn of events that took him away from his parents, family and friends.  But that ‘tragic’ path trained him to become the man of God the Father wanted him to become. He maintained his purity and integrity and eventually became the means of *saving* his entire family from starvation and death.  Well… I won’t go through it all… but it’s there in the first book of the Bible (so no excuse of not knowing where it is) beginning at Chapter 37 and going on through the end of the book. It’s a fascinating story if you’ve not read it before… or even recently.

It’s summed up toward the end when Joseph says to his brothers who had treated him wickedly but God had preserved him: “…you meant it to me for evil, but God meant it for good” (Gen. 50:20) Those are excellent words to keep before your eyes and heart in these times when the charges and insults are flying back and forth.  God knows what HE is doing. Our job is to fit in with it – as Joseph did.

            Cordially, IN HIM

            Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

HOW MUCH DOES EXPERIENCE COUNT

Just A MinuteChris Matthews assembled a panel over the weekend who tore into Sarah Palin discussing how disastrous she has been to the McCain campaign. Matthews, called her  "an object of ridicule" and Andrea Mitchell NBC News said she was (quote) "not a serious choice."

Then good ole Chris asked if McCain would have been better off picking Romney or Pawlenty. They dropped that and concerned themselves with who might be the GOP standard bearer in 2012 if McCain falters – and suddenly – lo and behold the Alaska Governor was accorded the status of being a ‘serious candidate.’ Anne Kornblut of the Washington Post said:  "She "certainly has a claim to run.”  The observation of John Heilemann, of New York magazine was: "She's got a lot of fans out there," adding, Mrs. Palin is (quote) "…the most popular person in the Republican Party right now."  With Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune,  concurring: -- "There are things she's very good at…"

Hmm – On Nov. 4th she’s not qualified – but if Obama wins, suddenly on Nov. 5th she is. Can anyone pronounce “media bias?”
