Hello – IT’S FRIDAY – all day!
We’ve been through a wringer extraordinaire this week. Last week it was get the package passed…. To stop the bleeding. This week the bleeding got worse as far as the *world’s* economy is concerned. One newspaper cartoon I saw on Tuesday had
But being ‘involved’ is what we are. And our government is involved up to its eyebrows. That well may be why this economic downturn has taken such an unexpected turn for the worst. When the slide first started we took comfort in the knowledge in the 1929 crash the market went down far more in just one day. But now that about seven days have gone by with each one sliding further down the scale – people are beginning to get the jitters not just when they go to fill up the family car. We’ve had a similar slide but in seven days.
So – today I want to call to the minds of believers the pictures that are presented over and over in the Bible. God loves His children – and gives them good things not evil. But the difference is HE sees the end from the beginning – whereas we, like little children, have nothing like the total picture of what God is doing with HIS world, HIS Kingdom and HIS Children. One of the things I’m beginning to get a better grasp of these days is to remember one day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Sit for a minute and meditate on all that means – and the *very* different goals and paths of getting the goals accomplished that God ordains and sees from the beginning that we have but the slimmest grasp of. The book of Proverbs is full of that wisdom – in addition it appears in one form or another on just about every page of scripture. Our thoughts are not God’s thoughts – we’re like the children under the loom where mother is weaving a beautiful tapestry – but all we see are tangles and threads that don’t make a discernable pattern.
Sorry to go on so long – it’s just as a traveler who has perhaps been on this road longer than many I’ve seen along the way, my own experience shows me the Lord is totally worthy of my trust – I hope you can grasp that truth too. I recommend 2 Chronicles Chapter 20 when King Jehoshaphat knew he was vastly outnumbered by a great hoard coming against him (verse 12) and saw how weak his army was by comparison – he looked to the Lord and asked Him what to do.
You’ll want to read the account of how the Lord got him out of that scrape without a fight and with a total defeat of the enemy. We still serve this same Lord. Build up your faith this weekend by this study of God’s word.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
IT’S A MATTER OF WHOM DO YOU TRUST
Just A Minute – If you go outside and look up – you’ll see sky or clouds –reminding you, 100%, the sky hasn’t fallen. That’s unusual compared with current economic and political reports.
Today, I read the current fad of using media ‘fact checking’ directly in news copy -- only CNN’s experts found a statement true, and ABC’s found it false. Whose “fact checkers” are trustworthy?
Here’s a 100 percent, never-fail source: (quote) “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths.” (Prov. 3:5, 6) KJV
It’s an ironclad guarantee from One who -- having nothing more unchangeable than Himself – swore by Himself – thus double guaranteeing its reliability.
I’ve never heard such a plethora of confusing and contradictory information about elections, economics – everything we’ve experienced this week. But I’m confident – and calm. You can be too. Jesus Christ invites you to trust in Him. This is one you can’t lose.
