SENATOR JIM DeMINT SPEAKS AT BJU CHAPEL - for Just A Minute Radio - Thursday 110929

We have a particularly pertinent message to include in today’s JUST A MINUTE.

Occasionally we have an elected official come and speak to educational institutions. Today’s program includes an excerpt from one such talk by United States Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina.

Mr. DeMint has garnered a significant amount of attention to his service in the Senate as he has paid particular attention to the rights of the people to assemble as well as to petition the government for redress of grievances. Such kind of oppression is going on in the USA today as the leader who was elected in 2008 and inaugurated into office in 2009 has embarked on a course which threatens to do great damage to our ‘ship of state.’

Presently the policies of Mr. Barack Obama are threatening to bankrupt our Nation. He seems to be virtually and almost totally ignorant of what happens when you borrow $0.43 out of every $1.00 spent in America today. Our nation and its economy simply cannot bring in enough in the manner of legal tender (otherwise identified as – MONEY) to pay for all the bills and salaries to pay for the things we need (Such as uniforms for our Army and other servicemen and women.).

This irresponsible behavior is threatening to bring down the economic structure we call our “Economy.”  A ‘balanced’ economy is required. That is one has to bring in to the coffers of government, as much or more, is being spent. If these rules are NOT followed, tragedy, bankruptcy follows… which in turn is followed by depressions of the monetary supply, the failures of banks and all kinds of financial structure – and generally throws our Nation… not to mention the World into fiscal turmoil.

Our currency loses it’s value… we have to carry paper currency to the store in wheelbarrows in order to bring home a loaf of bread. It has happened before to nations like Germany, France and smaller countries like Greece and others. This is the collapse that follows of the banking and currency system when it is abused by ignorance and a leadership which is determined to follow its own policies no matter how little sense they make.

So… we shall have to take this up another day… But for now our personal best wishes.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

SENATOR JIM DeMINT SPEAKS AT BJU CHAPEL

Just a Minute: South Carolina’s Junior Senator Jim DeMint spoke to Wednesday’s Chapel Service at Bob Jones University, to about four thousand students and faculty in the Founder’s Amphitorium on the campus. He gave a very clear testimony as to how he came to know and trust Christ and how it encourages him as he serves in the Senate.

Here are a few of the words from his talk: (quote) “I am very appreciative of what you do here, of learning and sinking your roots down deep in God’s word – and how that applies to the world as a whole. So that you can go out and be that salt and light – you will make a difference. And I just want you not to be discouraged. Believe me sometimes I am discouraged.

“But as I travel all around and see the way things are going. … I see that God’s at work everywhere. He’s using His people to shape them in the way He wants them shaped. … God’s in charge. He has a purpose for your life and you’re completely forgiven.”

Mr. DeMint thanked the University for inviting him and closed in prayer.
