Well… you know how much you hate to miss your favorite football game on TV.

Or would you rather hear The President making yet *another* speech on how he plans to make the economy grow at a *fantastic* rate? That seems to be the game the White House is playing with the Speaker of the House – Boehner in trying to have another big time speech on TV which will unleash the power of the Obama economic juggernaut on the American system and get us out of this stinky economy.

Or would you rather skip the whole thing in deference to the Thursday night football game scheduled for 8 o’clock EDT?

Hard choice, right? Well it seems the boys in the east wing of the White House are getting a little jumpy at the poll numbers. Three major polls have come out with bad news for the Obama campaign… of course the GOP hasn’t picked its candidate yet… and won’t until about this time next year. Until then we have to hear of busses being flown all over the country so the President may campaign in a bus tour… rather than sit in his bullet-proof limousine. (Oh the busses are bullet-proof too… and they have to fly two of them out ahead of Obama to confuse the people… just a bit…I guess.

Anyway it’s hard to take a bus tour in Air Force One… the people can’t see you waving back at them.

Oh yes we ARE saving some fuel in the busses by having them be flown out on a cargo plane…it wouldn’t be as comfortable and you couldn’t run the air conditioner on the airplane… but wait … why would you want to… Oh well… forget it… logistics are not my bag – neither do the Obama planners seem to understand just how that works.

I suppose it would be entertaining if we didn’t see the meter on the Treasury Building flashing red. (Just a figure of speech, Madam.)

Usually it’s the last half of a campaign which qualifies as the ‘silly season’ but we seem to have come upon it VERY early this year.

OK – IS IT WEDNESDAY NITE OR FOOTBALL NITE?

Just a Minute: Mr. Jay Carney, White House Press briefer, at 12:26 PM on Wednesday Aug. 31^st announced the President would speak to a Joint Session of Congress on Wednesday, Sept.7^th at 8 PM. Asked if Mr. Obama knew there was a GOP debate going in California at that time? – Had they deliberately try to overlap that? Mr. Carney’s answer was: “(I’m reading the White House transcript:)

“No, of course not. … There are significant things we can do if we work together in Washington. … that requires working with Congress. … they will come back [from their recess] with a sense of urgency … to do the kinds of bipartisan things we can do right now…”

But by 9:24 PM Eastern Daylight time the White House had put out another statement blaming House Speaker John Boehner for clearing Sept. 7^th as the date the President’s much ballyhooed jobs speech, and (quoting) saying instead the President now "welcomes" the chance to speak [to the joint session of Congress] on Sept. 8^th.
