ENTIRELY CHANGING THE SUBJECT -- LOOK AT THIS! - Just A Minute Radio for Tuesday 110906

We had some short but heavy downpours in beautiful downtown Taylors… Hope you’re OK!

Yesterday was sorting things out day.  Gov. Perry had to skip the SC candidate debates to direct the forces in TEXAS concerning their terrible plague of wildfires. Oh yes… and today is Jack Buttram’s birthday… Oh no… not mine.  My Grandson Jack who lives out toward Longview TX… I have not heard that they are in wild fire country.  Happy Birthday Grandson… I’m not *real* sure he listens. I don’t think I meet the audience standard in age or something like that. (J)

There is a LOT going on this week. Holiday… and Congress getting back in session… NFL season opens on the same night as the President open’s his 19th speech on jobs…I think the title is something along the line of: JOBS AND HOW I CREATE THEM.  At least that *was* the title the last four times he gave it… or am I thinking about something else?

I hear he plans to continue the “BUS” tour.

You know of course it is the busses that are getting the tour.  That’s where the name comes from. He was in DE-troit yesterday.  Detroit was about the 5th largest city in the US… now it’s 6th or 7th… I hear.  Automobile manufacture has moved out … a lot.  Some of the older auto factories are either standing empty or are being scrapped. The city that was about 1.6 million I think… it ‘s now down about 900,000.  I hears someone say Mr. Obama wanted them to have more elbow room… But that’s just rumor.  I think it was something more serious – like crime. But then that’s hearsay too. We’ll just have to await his speech. But the busses cost about a million apiece… and they have to fly two out to each speaking engagement. Saves a lot of money you know… those busses really eat up the diesel fuel! (not?)

I hear he has been working on a new campaign pledge… something like… “If I say it… it will come true.”  Hasn’t quite worked out that way since January of ’09… but he’s got something like a month and a third to make it work – although I don’t know where he’ll get the $4.3 trillion back. I’m sure he’ll think of ‘something!” Hasn’t he always? Oh… and I can hardly *wait* for the jingle…Oh… I wasn’t supposed to talk about that… OK, folks just pretend I didn’t say it.

Today’s JUST A MINUTE has some interesting stuff in it… at least it was when I wrote it.  It’s about “What it takes to MAKE IT SO.” But I think that title was left on the cutting room floor. Just didn’t have the right “ring” to it.

Well better get out of here before I stir up trouble. Wouldn’t want to do that. See you all tomorrow at the Bait Shop and Sushi Bar on the “Caroliner Line!”

Hang tough little Doggies….

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

ENTIRELY CHANGING THE SUBJECT – LOOK AT THIS!

Just a Minute: Here’s a change from the political world:

This April the most recent supernova to have been unquestionably observed in our own galaxy made its appearance and set the astronomy world ablaze with the news. These “bright stars” sometimes called ‘white dwarfs’ reveal yet unanswered cosmic questions. Possibly this one can be observed from your backyard if the clouds cooperate – you can use binoculars, or if it’s clear perhaps just your eye. Draw an equilateral triangle above the last two stars in the handle of the big dipper. This one may be brighter until Thursday.

Sometimes they grow brighter and then dim out possibly changing into a black hole – setting forth new mysteries about “dark” matter – an unexplained force in the universe needed to make man’s theories compute.

Think about this: When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8: 3, 4

A tremendous question! <> I’m Jack Buttram (END)
