Oky Doky – getting to the end of the week are we?
I sense a certain ennui in the conduct of the Democrat dugout as we go into the 7th Inning (an approximation resulting from too much baseball) And with the advent of rough and continuing along that line for a while – behavior it’s time for a stretch and working out things a bit.
The folks who have just switched sides (as in NY’s 9th ) will find looking at the game from a different dugout not as familiar or having the same comfort as having been there before and done that. And I suspect Freshmen Republicans are getting tired of looking out on the same ‘molasses’ slow procedure that seems to be always present at this time of year. It won’t be too long before they’re having to confront raising the debt ceiling again. And we’re not playing against a team lead by THE leader who can speed things up much – but he can make them seem like they go on forever.
Still the maturity of the GOP candidates has come full circle yet. The Frosh haven’t been this way before… so they don’t know what they’re in for. Those of us on Medicare know it’s not too far away ‘till we have to do the re-application of getting things added or altered in our medical needs. And of course this is a time when we run into the ‘doughnut’ hole – those of us with large medicine orders that have to be filled… and it becomes a lean time going into the holiday season. Well… I guess I shouldn’t complain.
So… I think we better train and take it a bit easy if we can – because NEXT year is going to be a doozy if things go as I envision them. There will be all the transition of changing places… getting new people settled down in their new responsibilities. That will be especially difficult because it will require new abilities and techniques… ideas and implementations, to steer the ship of state away from the rocks and shoals but keep us headed for the destination. That’s going to be a challenge but *very* rewarding as we see the ship of state gradually turn from the wreck we were aimed for – and undertake the discipline of getting our financial house back in order and putting the kind of effort in it takes to start paying down the debt that has been so easily accumulated.
There will be massive but rewarding changes to be accomplished. But I encourage the younger travelers on this difficult road to grab on to their bootstraps and stick around with effort for the rewards of getting
I’d better let you go and think about these things – and pray for wisdom and insight – two activities that are going to be much in demand as the age draws on to a close. Thanks for being here… and God bless us all!
Cordially, IN HIM

Just a Minute: Observing the Indifference shown by Democrats in the wake of Tuesday’s paddling in
Bob Beckel, who appears on Fox’s The Five at Five news show, has pretty good humor as he plays the Democrat’s ‘convivial punching bag.’ His Christian conversion helps a lot. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Nancy Pelosi, in the House Democrat leadership are pretty stiff. Assistant Leader Steny Hoyer holds up pretty well in the face of their current difficulties.
So…we’ll see if the Democrats maintain their ‘aplomb’ in a bit of rough water. They’ll try to buckle down and exhibiting a unified team -- which will be especially difficult when everyone has a different idea. And I suspect there will be lots of griping in the ranks now that some of Mr. Obama’s charm is wearing thin.
The Senate hopes to be returned to GOP leadership but they must restrain themselves from over-reaching, over-reacting and UNDER-working. Transitioning to a new team during the coming election year will require some perseverance and reefing in some ambition. Let’s pray for them all.
