SO WHO *IS* THE BRIGHTEST BULB IN THE BOX? -- for Just A Minute Radio -- Monday 112119

This sometimes seems like the highest ladder to climb.  I guess it’s just getting the cogs rotating in the right direction and doing what we’re trying to have happen. I think it’ll happen – although with D.C. you just never can tell.

We still have a long way to go before the election.  There’s this hill called the Convention – that has to be handled first. Charlotte is “the” target. It’s find but it’s not Chicago (PTL = Praise the Lord) and a sigh of relief. I think the Democrats Blue or Regular will perhaps not pull a McGovern there. It’s a place riddled with good sense (fmp = for the most part)

Yesterday was a long one… so we’re signing off with a dozen fewer errors than we would have if we shot the breeze for a few more minutes. (J)

We’ll be here tomorrow… look us up same time and same place.  Thanks for dropping by.

Cordially, IN HIM

 “JUST A MINUTE”

SO WHO IS THE BRIGHTEST BULB IN THE BOX?

Just a Minute: I have a childhood memory of absolute JOY of seeing an outdoor Christmas tree for the first time decorated in all blue lights. Maybe you think I’m a little addle pated for bringing it up but a totally blue-lit, silver tinsel decorated outdoor tree in the Shenandoah mountains of Virginia seen through the window of a 1935 Ford careening down Bent Mountain toward home still makes my eyes well up and my Christmas spirit leap a tad higher.

I discovered last week our Energy Department had its wings slightly by a ban of 100 watt incandescent bulbs for at least a year. DOE argues the CFL (fluorescent) bulbs use less electricity and are more climate friendly – opponents counter citing the danger of mercury poisoning.

Defenders of old-style bulbs say it’s another instance of the DOE flexing its muscles. “Too much government in the home,” they say noting California’s former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the one who signed it into law – calling it another vote for socializing bigger central government.
