We are climbing that steep hill over the HOLIDAYS – and arriving at the New Year exhausted and out of breath for Christmas – followed by New Years…. Foll…
Oh just forget it… it’s too late in the year to do anything now! So you think so? Well ask Speaker Baynor or the Minority Leader (my how they hate that term) on the Democrats side of the aisle. They are planning to mop the floor with the dissatisfied voters upon whom they are counting to bring them the victory come recount time in November next year.
I’ve heard the scenario played out two times and Bill Clinton’s first race cited three times because while Bill did NOT win the presidency when he ran against George H.W. Bush – he surely took enough votes away from the Senior Bush to push “The Man From Hope” into the Oval office. [And we’ve had time to repent at leisure. – although with 9-10+% voters not very happy. The same ominous cloud hangs over the current situation.
Ron Paul strikes me as the original Joe Bfspk – the little guy in Al Capp’s cartoons who wandered over the landscape *always* under a little black rain cloud.
So those are the thoughts that run through my panic stricken brain at 4AM if I’ve allowed my blood sugar to get out of control.
Well – the only thing to do – (and I wonder why we who trust in the Lord to walk us through the Valley of the Shadow don’t come to this conclusion sooner ) is to commit our ways to the Lord. HE IS IN CHARGE not Ron Paul or Mr. Obama. That’s what helps me get back to sleep!

On a not strictly related but attached note… I see an obituary that seemed not widely noted, for Christopher Hitchens passing from this existence into the next did not achieve stories about grandiose funerals – or great public mourning about Mr. HItchens death. I would have imagined his sympathizers would have at least encouraged him on his way – although perhaps they are totally convinced there is no other… Wonder just what they are thinking now.
Mr. Hitchens became a person for whom I prayed quite a bit. I’ve never met him… I do know he has a brother who holds Christian beliefs as well as I understand it. And I certainly pray for him and any other relatives – that they may somehow find comfort. I read some satirical attempts to say goodby to Christopher without saying goodby or sending flowers.
What stuck in my mind – although I grant him brilliance and considerable literary ability – was: ‘What an opportunity to repent and if it was not taken how tragic it must be to face a helpless eternity. Yes… yes… I realize that will rub all the atheists and agnostics against the grain… but I just wonder if the torment must be – if repentance is not a factor as excruciating as I envision it from the knowledge I receive in the Scriptures.
Anyway Mr. Hitchens’ family is in my prayer from time to time as I imagine how difficult it must be to know a loved one is forever lost.
