It’s been one of those weeks where I *don’t* want to be drug through that *same* knothole again!
Reminds me of a former math teacher’s slogan when introducing us to second semester Algebra 3 or 4… “Don’t make the same mistake again.” She would admonish. “There are too many NEW ones waiting to be made.” Seems like I tried to make ‘em all. Especially when neglecting homework seemed to be a sport.
I would sit in class the next day trying to count ahead and see if I could work out the problem before the teacher got to my slot on the page. And then of course she might change the order in which she called on people – and I’d have to work doubly fast to see if I could write down the answer before it became my turn again.
And so it would go… every hectic day. I’d be working on diagramming sentences ahead of getting called upon to share my ‘work’ (which I was just in the process of writing) and in history class I would be reading about a paragraph ahead of where the teacher was lecturing… unless she skipped a few paragraphs.
Same exercise repeated in English – working out the grammar or in the second semester each year trying to answer the literature questions before she got to me.
I was mostly a “C” student and mainly because I didn’t sufficiently apply myself. It would have been a lot easier if I’d done the homework at home the night before… I learned more about that in college… even so was a “B” student only in the classes relating to my major – broadcasting.
To any kids who happen to have stumbled into this blog by mistake. Here’s a hint. – I can tell you even 50 or sixty years past the deadline… it’s a LOT easier to do homework the night before rather than try to squeeze it in just before class time. Don’t ask me to explain… I just know! (J) It’s a lesson that will serve you well into your later years. You can ask me about that … I know!
One episode that happened in about the 6th grade when I deceptively (I thought) forged my *Mother’s* name on a class paper I had really messed up. I didn’t want her to see it. But my teacher… noting the difference in the previous signatures she had required… pointed that out to me and directed me to take the forged signature home and get my mother to sign it again…(of course I had lied about it… and still remember it vividly to this day… which is something like 60 years later. Oh my – How I penalized myself… and carry the regret to this day although my teacher has been long in the grave… my conscience hasn’t – yet.
Well… time to go… see you next week I hope. God bless you and all your family.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
EVERYBODY’S IN FOR NO NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNING – RIGHT?
Just a Minute: We’re looking at two top candidates ranked by CBS-NYT poll carried by the Washington Post. [Frankly I don’t trust the Post, the Times or CBS. They’re all part of the ‘main stream media’ – and thus [in my opinion] they have built-in biases -- anti-evangelical for starters.
The “newbies” tends to hit the top of the list and then sink. Mrs. Bachmann is
“Exhibit A”. Ahead of everyone in the
So Newt’s lead is colored more by what they want to see happen than what is happening. Almost every candidate on the roulette polling wheel hits a ‘mega’ score that doesn’t last long.
Mitt has mostly stuck to his program. Newt’s ‘house of cards’ built in DC advising Freddie Mac means he can lay no claim to being an ‘outsider.’ Credit him with authoring “Contract with
Mr. Obama was ‘hope’ – but suffocated himself huge debt pile bigger than all the Presidents since George Washington. Our grandchildren were loaded with debt before diapers. That’s JUST A MINUTE for starters. There’s a long journey ahead. <> I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
