PRIZES, PRIZES- NOBODY GETS PRIZES -- YET? for Just A Minute Radio for Monday 111212

Wonderful ‘winter-like’ morning, except “no snow” at least not here in the uplands of SC… I dunno about the mountain tops up near the state line.

Anyway we are making our way slowly, ploddingly along the path that leads to the first *sort of* primary race in Iowa.  The Corn State sort of rocked the boat… and Florida wanted to add to the confusion… but *someone* apparently exerted some cooler pressure and they must have backed down, or we would have been racking up primary votes already I suppose.  As it is we’re scheduled to vote here in SC in the Republican primary on the 21st.

Mr. Obama apparently thinks there is nothing to it because he’s making no ‘ostensible’ campaign speeches… although he’s (according to the filed records) already collected something like a pile and a half of the paper money the Republican candidate will be eligible to spend.  It’s a confused world out there – and apparently will be getting worse.  (I think I wrote it somewhere here – when I worked for the RNC on the Goldwater-Miller campaign the *TOTAL* amount spent for that campaign by the GOP forces was in the neighborhood (and it was a small neighborhood) of $13 million.

Things have changed.  (For the worse I think.) I’d be in favor of not allowing campaigning of more than 30 days ahead of the election … and reducing campaign expenditures to something like a tenth or less what is being spent now.

Well… we shall see what comes of this next go round. Although I’m swearing off candy and spending money from now through Dec. 25th… and beyond. I have a lovely wife who is working on some hand-made gifts for our GREAT grand children since there are fewer – and she can possibly be finished by Christmas or early January. Things just get too squenched up together, here at the end of the year.

Well sorry to cut this off… but we have an early morning Gideon meeting. This week we will be distributing something close to three thousand testaments which are being put in the hands of college age students who will be utilizing them in witnessing on their way home or at home between semesters. So you might pray for favorable ground where that seed will fall. (J). Give those who read it “Hawkeyes!”  (and for other states too.)

Good night… Or morning… see you on Monday …

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

PRIZES, PRIZES-*NOBODY*GETS PRIZES--YET?

Just a Minute: The race to the finish line is… well it isn’t – we’re still thinkin’ about it – we’re just dippin’ a toe in the 1784 precincts water and it’s freezing out there – we think… -- except until sometimes it becomes *VERRY* hot – aaaha...

That’s what we’re picking up from ‘over the transom’. The navy blue jackets just called it scuttlebutt – almost gossip. Frankly it’s what came out of Friday night’s ABC-TV showdebate”.  I just hate to even bring that label close to it -- reminds me more of a six-way -- elbows-to-the-table arm-wrestling contest. And Mrs. Bachmann did just about as well as any of the male gender.

But it’s just about useless right now for picking a winner as the so-called opinion    polls. Quoting Margaret Thatcher, via Peggy Noonan, when she spoke of Newt the Ginggrinch: – “He has tons of guts.”

Well that’s OK… but it still doesn’t tell us much about what’s going to be decided on January 3rd by the Iowa poll that sometimes doesn’t become effective until the Convention.
