OK -- WHOSE DAY IS IT? -- Just a Minute for Tuesday 11-04-08

Well… it’s finally here – and not a moment too soon. We won’t know till late tonight… and even then the mists will be thick.

But Praise the Lord, we’ve come at last to the end of this tedious trail. Don’t get me wrong – I’m as much for the excitement of picking our own candidates and trying to get the best possible government we can out of them – sometime with success and sometimes not.  But I fear to say it, we often get the kind of government we, as a nation, deserve. And that’s often a sad thing.

We ought to be striving for the “City Set on a Hill” so inspiringly set forth by President Reagan especially with his line … “It’s morning again in America.”

Now I believe we’re going to go through quite a dark tunnel – not so much the darkness manufactured by our enemies – but that which we are bringing upon ourselves. It’s quite true every generation seems to think things are not as good as they were in the “good old days” – but even I can see the Good Old Days… with polio and Yellow Fever and large areas of disease or damage done to our bodies that the medical profession could only possibly ameliorate and not eradicate.

But there have been great advances there… and with communication and various other fields of endeavor.  But I hesitate to say it – we seem to be losing the ‘culture wars’ to ourselves. As Pogo the Possum used to say in the funny papers – WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US.

If it weren’t so hectic today – my wife had to be at the polling place by 5AM – and they won’t close till 7 – so when can I get her home?  Plus all the other normal things that are buzzing around like mosquitoes.

Tomorrow – to coin an OLD phrase – is another day!  And Praise the Lord for that!  “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills… from whence cometh my help… my help cometh from the Lord … who made Heaven and Earth.  And we are privileged to be able to say if we desire to be “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our Faith who for the JOY which was set before HIM endured the pain (and the shame) and is set down at the right hand of the Throne of God.”

Well… you can see I’m excited and tired all at once … I’m writing this post midnight… it’s already election morning and we early begin a NEW DAY in the Lord. Praise HIM for HIS mercy and unlimited and unmitigated grace.

            Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

OK – WHOSE DAY IS IT?

Just A Minute – The independent Media Research Center reports a  beyond overwhelming ninety-six percent of the staff of Slate.com, the online news magazine owned by the Washington Post, who plan to vote for Barack Obama. On their website the headline reads: "Slate Votes: Obama wins this magazine in a rout," --- The website reported 55 staff members plan to cast their ballots for Obama. Just one person admits he will vote for John McCain. McCain gets the same total as one person supporting, libertarian renegade Republican, Bob Barr. That supporter just said, "Not McCain." Nobody’s come up with such left-wing lock-step at any other media outlet. Slate Editor-at-Large, the Barr backer, said: "I doubt Obama will garner ninety-six percent even in his home precinct."

On this Election Day, I leave you with this word to Judah’s King Jehosaphat, from the prophet Jeremiah: The battle is not yours but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15) If you are a believer – talk with your Heavenly Father about  that right now.
