Possibly the biggest comfort to be realized from that change is what it means for correcting some of the over-confidence of the union leaders that they can pull off miracles. I don’t know if you saw some of the economic information published about teachers and other public union members … but the disparity is so pronounced it’s just not healthy. It appears a reaction is in process – but as I said before these currents can as suddenly dry up as they appear and one doesn’t want to get their confidence built out too far. It’s dangerous.
You’ll be reading and hearing a lot of speculation about the changes. My advice, from one who’s had enough losing in my career to more than last for this lifetime – so I advise to take more than a grain of salt. Times are still tough – the saying that comes to mind is “One Robin doesn’t make a Spring.”
