SURPRISE, SURPRISE -- THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPENED -- Just a Minute Radio for Thursday 120607

I think I griped about the ‘hurricane season’ hitting the SE seacoast about five days before the “official season” began.

Well, we “Ain’t seen Nuthin Yet” –  although I have never been able to master the art of prediction. So… I’ve given it up. Nonetheless, the seasons roll right along just as they always have – and always will until the Lord changes HIS mind as to how things ought to be run.

I will note I had a small victory in putting out enough mulch around some ‘darling little boxwoods’ as my wife calls them. I decided the leaky guttering was washing away the mulch too easily… so I made it more difficult – and now it’s ‘staying’ by the stuff.’ [That’s a ‘bit of scripture’ describing how some of the men trying to recapture Abraham’s women folks who had been hauled off by miscreants.] Were assigned to look out after the baggage and plunder while Abraham and friends did their fight of recovery.

Well I’m getting off the subject again. Sometimes we have to do unpleasant things and just try to persevere. I note we’re getting ready to do some building near our church. [I use the term ‘we’re’ loosely I’m afraid] My children and grandchildren say no more ladder climbing for me… so I’m into being a mulch contractor which doesn’t require leaving the ground more than say three inches.

How did I get out in this field of weeds. Oh yes… grass cutter is off for the summer.  When else does grass grow?  Oh yeah… Spring and fall…leaf raking.

Well… there’s always that …. And elections that take our time. And I’ve already used mine – so I’ll write more later – if you’ll come back. See you tomorrow.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

SURPRISE, SURPRISE – THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPENED

Just a Minute:  The state of Wisconsin has again proved itself to be innovative. A year ago, Republican Governor Scott Walker was threatened with recall. Big Union money coupled with the simmering animosity indicated he might lose this contest.

Lined up against him were mobs, labor unions, Hollywood, the media, academia and various minions of the left. But Walker and the battle he lead, turned the tables and produced a resounding victory for smaller government, one subject to sensible monetary policies.

In Walker's case, he promised the voters in Wisconsin he’d bring sweeping reform against the ever-expanding government. He promised the Badger state he’d clean out the cobwebs if entrusted with their votes -- and he’s made good on his promise. The State actually has significantly cut its deficit and is working on reform. He was rewarded last night with a victory that surprised almost everybody.

Walker has started with new policies that are unabashedly set to reduce tax burdens, rein in educational wild roots and cut extraneous spending. The biggest payoff may come November sixth. <> I’m Jack Buttram.  (END)
