The gremlins – small and great – make you forget what you have done… and what you need to do sometimes… especially late at night.
So we’re trying to get a to bed a little earlier and not be a tempting target for the gremlins who are up to their old WWII tricks of making you forget or at least forget to remember.
It seems to be something the White House does not take into account that Americans listen to the news on TV and Radio as well as read the papers… and so a the time to vote begins to draw nearer the field begins to winnow down. I don’t know if that falls under the law of ‘diminishing returns’ but I’ll let it sit there.
Meantime we have a lot of rigorous campaigning to go on around us. And there are distractions… Sports and their ancillary problems. Then there’s the economy – and the variations in the housing market – unemployment but little sprigs of green here and there to show that things are still alive under all the leaves. Now to get the raking up or doing what we think we ought to do for the coming cold weather…
But RIGHT NOW … well before we know it Thanksgiving is past and we’re sliding down the chute toward Christmas eve… we’re within a month’s time and it seems there’s *always* a
From time to time I run into that little two liner… “Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.” So true, so true, and worrying about things doesn’t make’em any better… or disappear out of sight. We have entered that semi-magic area in which people do seem to be a bit more open to one another… and perhaps if we open our eyes a bit we see the needs of others. So..it’s time to quit dreaming and start *getting it done*. My wife is doing some dolly work for the little kids… WE have so many little’uns nowadays we’ve just got to figure how they get here. (J)
And things just seem to tighten up all ‘round. It’s a good thing we have January to help bring us back to earth again – and even things out.
Just remember… keep looking to Jesus the author and *finisher* of our faith who for the *joy* that was set before Him, endured the cross… despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Let’s just begin to focus our thoughts on what Christmas is all about and how can we be effective in it.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
WHEN YOU SWING ON THE GATE IT WILL START TO SAG
Just a Minute: As a boy, my Dad said he’d use the hickory switch if he saw me swinging on the garden gate again. Too bad Dad’s not among the White House advisers who could inform the Hawaiian/Indonesian – President he’s utilizing the “President’s plane” to win his own personal prize.
The very day after his 2009 January inauguration he required the crew – and the backup plane and that crew to fly that one to fly the 100 miles or so down to
Monday’s Wall Street Journal on the front page says Mr. Obama has already set a new record jetting around the country ostensibly to get his “Jobs Bill” passed – but really using Air Force One as a factor in a soon to appear book called (quote) “The Rise of the President’s Permanent Campaign.”
In his 3rd year in office Bill Clinton chalked up 40 trips; George Bush 49 -- on Thursday Mr. Obama will hit 57. Perhaps he’s planning to make a new National Debt record single handed. <> I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
