Well I think we’ve just about hit our peak on colors for Autumn this year. [All down hill from here.]
Our little Japanese Maple out front has discarded its camouflage of “simply green” and is currently exhibiting its brilliant scarlet and lemon yellow foliage. Since I had nothing to do with its grafting, planting or tendering to our front yard ‘landscape’ (which I think is a bit of a pretentious title seeing I’ve not done that much to it -- since a landscape artist apparently gave up on me two years ago – and abandoned my ship).
But we still have hopes that $$$ will rain from heaven one of these days when I get set up to sell some extraneous “ham” equipment and crank up the firepit out back so we can toast marshmallows while we shiver a bit. That way I can get myself in gear to *finally* clear up the mess in the tool crib… get my emergency generator working again and ready to hookup when these winter ice storms show up. Right now I just can’t seem to get on the up side of the power curve. (J)
Well… as I type this for Monday’s JUST A MINUTE program (every week day at 11:30 AM and 5:15PM) … I keep wondering if I have bad breath translated into my typing fingers… or am just anti-social? Once I ran for something akin to animal control specialist in a local election. (My wife says I didn’t put enough energy into it to be able to classify it as a campaign.) And after those election returns were in I wrote down two things I learned:
I. The whole world is divided into TWO classifications (classes for short):
A: Candidates for public office.
B: Non-candidates for public office.
II. Anyone who has such a miniscule group of ‘friends’ – As showed up in my column when the votes were counted – Should not be walking around by himself without a body guard. (L)
So from the above data … I know I am a type “B” person and should never even think about climbing the fence to join-- the type “A” crowd. You don’t have to worry about me deciding -- even at the last minute -- to run anonymously against Mr. Obama for public office.

OK – Now that we have that hang-fire question settled… what else is there to know? Well… from the pile of leaves blown up in the front yard already – and the trees ain’t quit throwin’ ‘em down yet – we are gonna have some kind of winter? And looking at how accurate my predictions for weather, elections and whether or not Tiger Woods would rejoin the golfing milieu? … I wouldn’t suggest you go out and buy a snow blower. My snow removal equipment amounts to one (1) square tipped shovel… with a long handle of course.

That’s about all the ‘hot’ news we can handle for today…. Be tuned in tomorrow if you can.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
MAY WE ALWAYS REMEMBER THEIR SACRIFICE
Just a Minute: At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918 the guns of August fell silent across
During my elementary school days we observed “Armistice Day” in November – but by December of 1941 we had our own Veteran casualties.
Europeans celebrate Remembrance Day and our “Armistice Day” became “Veterans' Day” to honor all who have sacrificed in our wars.
A Canadian professor of Medicine Col. John McCrae wrote this poem after burying one of his soldiers and It has become possibly the most well known ever –
Occasioning wearing of poppies each year since – in remembrance…
In
In
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In
