JUST NOW STARTING TO CLEAN THE STREETS -- For Just A Minute Radio for Tuesday 111101

Well now – we’re lookin’ in at the various locations where the Michael Moore sympathizers think we should be greeting the protesters who are not sure what they really want.

That’s not the same idea that *everyone* has… especially those in the Northeast who have had enough of the shenanigans of the weather… including hurricanes, sleet, wind storms and now power outages due to a rebel nor’easter that put so much snow on limbs still flourishing an Autumn show of leaves and apparently broke a record number of tree limbs… and brought down a similar record number of power lines.

Crews from as far away as Georgia and Louisiana have been dispatched to New England and other northern states to try and get things back to normal. From the announcements made by the utilities… it may be a week or so before power is restored completely. So Winter has made it’s premature entrance on the latter days of October.

Possibly there will be enough snow on the ground to carry Grandma and all the other makin’s of the Thanksgiving Feast to the proper destination.

Meanwhile down at Wall Street – well they are living in the lap of luxury – and earning the disdain of the ‘for real’ homeless people. ‘Tis indeed a sorry situation. I hope they get everyone settled down before the *really* cold weather sets in.

Meantime… let us enjoy the apples and the cider of the fall season. I even have gotten to crack a goodly number of pre-Christmas mixed nuts in the shells. I think I bought an extra bag of nuts and laid them by last year.  They go a long way toward getting the season ready… Except … I notice some of the Brazil nuts – they have the largest kernels… I think… and if you happen to get some that were ‘laid by’ in the nut house a season before… well… they sometimes come out of the shell with a bit of a rancid taste.  Not pleasant. So… don’t be greedy. (J)

I hope all the protesters get their fill of protesting and stop imposing on others at this season… we’ve got enough troubles without manufacturing more.

Join us tomorrow… we should have some interesting conversations at the Bait Shop and Sushi Bar at Fairplay tomorrow. At least there was no snow in that quarter at this time.

See you soon.

Cordially, In HIM

Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

JUST NOW STARTING TO CLEAN THE STREETS

Just a Minute:  So far I’ve ignored ‘protestors’ clogging streets in various parts of America.  Not willing they should be overlooked I call upon Thomas Sowell, born just up the road in Gastonia – a distinguished scholar, writer and Marine who served in Korea and is the Rose and Milton Friedman Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University

He makes some choice observations about the “Occupiers of Wall Street” who he says (quote)  apparently believe that other people, who are working while they are out trashing the streets, should be forced to subsidize their college education — and apparently the President of the United States thinks so too.”

He continues: “But if these loudmouths' inability to put together a coherent line of thought is any indication of their education, the taxpayers should demand their money back for having that money wasted on them for years in the public schools. Sloppy words and sloppy thinking often go together, both in the mobs and in the media that are covering them.” Thank you very much Dr. Sowell. I’m Jack Buttram.  (END)
