WE'RE STEPPIN' OVER THE TRACKS JUST A BIT - Just A Minute Radio for Friday 110513

Why do I have the creepy feeling the black cat is looking down *my* collar?

I tell you the longer the political season goes on with it’s snorts and stops and recalibrations… it’s enough to make you wish for a slow boat to China – or at least the U.K. – where they don’t allow the political season to go on interminably!  One month1  That’s all they get – and I wish we’d pass such a law. Perhaps we could use all the left over $$$ and energy to clear up some of the national debt or at least to shorten the term to which we are condemned to listen to old TV spots over and over and over again.

But so far… gripin’ about it ain’t done a bit of good!  To quote both Homer and Billy-bob.  So… are we going to have to take matters in our own hands?  --- That’s a quote I got off Al Jazzeera  -- and I suppose I shouldn’t joke about it… but I’m sure glad some of the NATO forces are flying the missions more now.

Well… we can’t do everything – it just seems like wet try. (L) – But it’s a new day and a new weekend coming and the sun so far has been coming up in the east every day even if it does shine on a LOT of water down there in the Mississippi delta.  (The forecast for the water to clear out of the lower basin is somewhere later in June.

Like I say—one can’t do everything.  But we’ve been putting off our yard sale to the point we DO have some overseas help come in from HAWAII… and are looking forward to having a lot of friends come by whenever we can find a free weekend to do the deed.

We have had lots of funerals this winter and on through the Spring. I’m hoping everyone who likes to garden will have a beautiful garden from all the rain… and we’ll just be covered up in fresh tomatoes!

I’ve had a cold and cough bad enough to stay away from people as much as I can. Dr. Tom says I won’t die of it – but when one feels bad that’s scant consolation… But I really don’t have anything to complain about – so I won’t.

We are trying to put a little more variety in the Just a Minute sessions.. and we welcome your comments and suggestions. WMUU – FM can certainly use your help in supporting them through their advertisers – oh for that matter Billy-Bob’s been lookin’ for a sponsor so the Bait Shop and Sushi Bar can recover from some of this bad economic times that have been blamed on all sorts of people… I won’t share the blame this morning… just won’t go there…  but the ‘lectric bill goes on – round and round the meter goes and it doesn’t stop till we plant the roses… Doesn’t quite fit… but you get the idea. (J)

Stick with us and we’ll do our best to stick with you too!

Cordially IN HIM,

Jack and Barbara Buttram

       We love you all!

WE’RE STEPPIN’ OVER THE TRACK JUST A BIT

Just a Minute: For quite a few years I’ve read a lot of C.S. Lewis – Perhaps you recognize the name from the  Narnia stories. He was British scholar and I’ll be reading usually on Friday’s or Mondays… Today it’s: RECOGNIZING CHRIST’S NEW MEN.

Already the new men are dotted here and there all over the earth. Some, as I have admitted, are hardly recognizeable: but others can be.  Every now and then one meets them. … Voices and faces different from ours: stronger, quieter, …  more radient. They begin where most of us leave off. They are, I say, recognizable; but you must know what to look for. … They do not draw attention to themselves. You tend to think that you are being kind to them when they are really being kind to you.  They love you more than other men do but they need you less. … They will usually seem to have a lot of time: you will wonder where it comes from. When you have recognized one of them, you will recognize the next one much more easily. … To put it at the very lowest, it must be great fun.

          I’m Jack Buttram.  (END)
