MORE NEWS FLOATS IN ABOUT THE BIN LADEN TAKEDOWN - For JUST A MINUTE Radio on Monday 110509

Rough and ready is my cry this morning…  Some fields have been conquered and some not.

So we’re trying to sort out a bit of the wheat from the chaff.  Anyone who has been watching some of the summary-re-plays on TV – or hearing them – or reading about Pearl Harbor etc  in the newspaper recap editions knows what’s coming next.

WE had some visitors who live up toward New York visiting this weekend – because one of our grandchildren was crossing the college finish line. He has his degree along with several hundred others – and now they start on a further heavy load. Except in this young man’s case, he’s planning on following another doctor around for a year or so to ‘learn the ropes’ – it’s a challenging rope course.

I’ve never been close to the medical school trainers… except I know enough from talking with our doctors, dentists & specialists … to know I don’t know enough to even “be dangerous” – as the saying goes.  But I am surely thankful for their skills and willingness to carry the heavy responsibilities they do for administering health treatment and good advice to their patients.

Medicine has come a long way since I went ‘under the knife’ first about the 6th or 7th grade when getting your tonsil’s taken out was a rather de rigueur thing to happen. It’s progressed a lot and I’m glad. However, there’s still a lot to learn and avoid and new ailments popping up all the time.

All that to say how thankful I am for the dedicated 99.44% of the medical profession who I believe take the extra steps to make sure their patients get the most accurate and beneficial treatment possible. I do not envy them the responsibility of proving themselves up to the task of fulfilling the trust their patients place on their shoulders. Obviously we’re all under the sentence of death till we get Old Death out of the way – but that’s not going to happen until we “get out of the way” or until the Lord returns conquering and to conquer.

I know… I know, I gripe about the paper work – and about how much medicine costs – but from time to time I *am* reminded to thank the Lord for all he’s done for me and for our family.  Truly we live in a blessed part of this old world.  And I thank the Lord for HIS graciousness to us in that regard also. I feel like I’m safe in the Father’s mighty hands!

See you tomorrow (DV).

Cordially, IN HIM

Jack

MORE NEWS FLOATS IN ABOUT THE BIN LADEN TAKE DOWN

Just a Minute: U.S, counterintelligence officials and analysts now expect Ayman al-Zawahiri, an Egyptian surgeon and bin Laden’s longtime deputy, will take over as the new main leader of Al-Qaeda. However it appears it’s not a done deal

The statement, put up on jihadist Web forums friendly to Jihadists – seems to be the first acknowledgment from al-Qaeda that its founder and leader for more than two decades was wiped out by a U.S. Navy Seal raid on an Al-Qaeda stronghold. The statement rather surprisingly released on Friday, purporting to be from Al-Qaeda’s overall leadership and acknowledge bin Laden’s demise but provided no guidance of who would become the overall leader.

The Washington Post identifies only a “senior U.S. intelligence official” who briefed reporters Saturday at the Pentagon. He said it’s unlikely for Al-Qaeda to hold a free and fair election to fill the post. That goes entirely against their grain. But if such elections were held it is likely Zawahiri would probably have a contested election on his hands.
