THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE TAKE UP THEIR DUTIES -- for JUST A MINUTE Radio Tuesday 110503

Boy --- Spring is really winding up to send us a pitch…

Too bad about all those broken trees, elevated rivers, ponds and streams flowing rapidly to the Mississippi and subsequently to the Gulf.

I believe I heard one of the weather people say it would be mid May before all the floodwaters come back to their normal state IF there were no more torrential and extraordinary times of rainfall. Of course we’ve all heard about the very dry times… and people prayed for rain. You don’t hear so much about the very wet times… and people pray for it to dry out.

This has been a very unusual winter.  Am I going to complain to the OFA people? (Old Farmer’s Almanac) No… They’re doing the best they can.  Everybody misses it sometimes.  I heard a lot of on the air weather people saying this was the worst flooding etc… since 1932.  That was (I think) back before they had undertaken building TVA dams and other levees. I know there’s a LOT of water impounded in the TVA lakes… and I’ve seen pictures of floods during my *earliest* days living in Bassett, VA… the river was way up over the roads and RR tracks. (It also happens to be the year in which I came into this world. – and how thankful I am to my Mom and Dad. AND  most of all to my Heavenly Father!)

What it’s saying to me is… no matter how hard we try (and of course we should try) we don’t know how to do what God knows how to do.  I’m really sure that prayer is our best defense against the elements.  We don’t have dams and levees that will take care of the size of tornadoes we’ve had this year from what I’ve seen in the pictures people send in to the various networks.

I’m not intending to beat around the bush… what I think we need to be reminded of are some of the verses in the book of Job when God asks him has he entered into the treasuries of the snow?  Or does he ‘make a way for the lightning of thunder?’

We may as well admit it… we may watch the weather and the floods and all that… but when it comes to doing something about it – or any other natural phenomena – our *best* course of action is praying. Not just praying a little bit but PRAYING!  PRAYING LIKE WE MEAN IT.

Well… didn’t mean to start preachin’ at this time of day… but it’s true “He (God) made it” – and it is …”By HIM all things consist.”  That’s a good thing to mentally tattoo across the inside of your eyelids. I’m thanking the Lord today because my youngest son and two of his sons… have come all the way from Hawaii across country and seen a lot of dust and dirt and flooding.  But God has brought them through it all OK.  And HE Is still taking care of us all for HIS purposes and HIS plans. Their brother is due to graduate from Pre-med and will likely work a year before going to Medical School

May the Lord bless you and your family as you take down your Bible and read the good news God has for you (and me) and ALL who will believe in HIM.

Have a great day! May God be with you all!

Cordially, IN HIM

Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

THE DUKE AND DUTCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE TAKE UP THEIR DUTIES

Just a Minute: Now Prince William and his bride, return to their rented farmhouse on the Isle of Anglesey attempting a return to normalcy in Wales. They must be apart for a while as he takes up service as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.

As a new member of the Royal family, the Duchess of Cambridge must now carry out public engagements, but St James's Palace said on Sunday she will ease into her new role slowly. For the present she will just be a consort to her husband. A palace spokesman says: "The Duchess's work in the Royal family will be to support her husband with his official duties, as well as supporting The Queen at home and abroad."

The couple is not expected to carry out any official duties before an official tour of Canada at the end of June. However it is expected they will be seen in public at the Duke of Edinburgh's 90th birthday events and Trooping the Colors in June.

Pretty tough life you say?  <> I’m Jack Buttram (END)
