We seem to have had another attack of the ‘eatin’ gremlins who (like the dog that ate my homework) have sidetracked texts which were intended for use.
Usually the stuff shows up a day or so later… but I never discover just where it has been hiding. (L) Nonetheless, we’ll get it in the hands and on the air with the right people (DV) and soldier on.
Seems like when we have a bunch of things to accomplish (like at a commencement for instance) these things occur… possibly because I get in such a big hurry I hit (or fail to hit) the right button.
In any case we’ll get there – and I’ll do my best to get there on time. So… thanks for your prayers and I was just reading through some of the items that are currently available for interested parties about practices (or restrictions) in certain parts of
It appears the government there is bent on ‘getting even’ or they may describe it as ‘settling down’ some of their gripes against the lawyers who undertake to resist the efforts for freedom mounted by evangelical Christians to exercise the freedoms that are *promised* to them under the Chinese constitution. This has prompted the police officials and apparently other ‘restraining’ entities to inaugurate a campaign of “let one out and take another in”. Which translates to releasing one prisoner (in this case a defense lawyer) they have held illegally and without notification of his family and other colleagues – and almost simultaneously arresting or detaining illegally another member of the legal profession or effort.
It’s rather ironic we’re complaining (or at least I am complaining) about the Obama Administration promising one thing and doing another. It is perhaps most flagrant in our own government in the application of the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) which has certain specific requirements of the time information which should be part of the “sunshine effect” of transparent government of the people, by the people and for the people – to inform and fulfill citizen requests for information about what the government is doing or has done.
My personal experience – when I was in the Washington area representing clients in public actions for which the government has a requirement, when requested in writing etc., to provide information (not necessarily restricted to “secret” information) to which citizens are supposedly guaranteed compliance within a certain time period spelled out in the law – to make available the information requested. This has happened to me when I was actively working in DC – the time lines by which the information was supposed to be released, were flagrantly ignored and not followed even though penalties for such violations are written into the law.
Either we should have laws like this which are followed and complied with – or the laws should be re-written and made so they are effective and properly enforced.
It’s a shame and makes for oppressive government, when such supposed “sunshine” laws (shining a bright light on what OUR government is doing so we can tell what’s happening) are ignored or simply violated, not to require enforcement. My experience was the authorities to whom we appealed knew they would not be punished – and the FOIA deadlines were unrealistic or could be ignored with impunity and no penalties ensued.
Well… what I did at that time is “water over the dam” and little is to be gained by ‘griping’ about it. Except we have the effects of freedom and effective government’s safeguards are weakened. It falls into the category of: “The government isn’t solving the problem; the government IS the problem.”
I don’t fully know how the Chinese nation got into the bind it is in now – but we are headed in the same direction and those citizen-‘watchdog’ organizations are worth encouraging – for the most part – and supporting.
Well… my ‘soapbox’ time is up for today. Stick with us. Let us all be diligent in the cause of freedom for the Lord.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
Just a Minute:
Senate President Pro-Tem Democrat, Darrell Steinberg, told reporters: "[If] You don't want to pay for government, well then, you get less of it." That just echoed Democrat state Treasurer Bill Lockyear, who said budget cuts ought to be aimed at districts where Republican lawmakers oppose putting the $11 billion in tax increases before voters in a referendum.
Bob Dutton, the Senate's Republican leader said through spokeswoman Jann Taber: "It only means Democrats are unwilling to stand up to public employee unions…" The Republican reaction described Mr. Obama’s proposal as -- (quote) – “About as transparent as a manhole cover.”
Hmmm -- Not exactly complimentary.
I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
