EVENTS ARE OFTEN AGONIZINGLY LONG -- for Just A Minute Radio -- Tuesday 120710

It’s not a few days I’d want to repeat – I think – unless worse ones come along – and they could.

 

First I want to thank all the folks who have messaged to us about our son and offered prayers and help as needed. I cannot tell you accurately just how much such an outpouring of Christian love means at times like this. Barbara and I both thank you. Your prayers are most appreciated and the tangible gifts of love and food and other expressions are touching.

 

We must go on with the issue of the moment – which I think means getting us another President.  But of course I’ll leave that to the electorate. There’s also the issue of a new Senate and a government that governs rather than expending all the government’s money on jet fuel and pretending it’s government business. Well maybe I’m a little harsh there. I knew the first day of his Presidency when he took AF-One down to Williamsburg at a rather high rate of fuel burn that we were in for a rough four years – and we still have a way to go. I’m afraid we’re going to have another messed up White House  a-la the Clinton’s abandoning ship – but I digress. I’ll leave it for the history books.

 

Today we’ll touch on the Federalist Papers. The purpose was never so clear to me in school as it is these days. Once more I’m returned to the days when I thought I know a lot more than now I know. We had a pretty good crew inventing this government – and we had Benjamin Franklin reminding the lady who asked him in the formative days “What Kind of government are you giving us Mr. Franklin?”  His response: “A Republic, Madam… If you can keep it!”  I ask the Lord if we may keep it a while longer until the Lord comes back. But of course – that’s the whole world that’s in HIS hands. And how thankful I am.

 

I’m thankful for our country – even with all it’s faults, government and other wise – the most reassuring thing is that WE are in HIS hands – and no one can SNATCH US out! Praise the Lord.  HE is in control right now. Praise the Lord – Praise HIM for everything!.

            Just a Minute:  Thanks so much for being patient with my unraveling the saga of our son being almost killed in auto-pedestrian accident in West Virginia. He may well be in for quite a long haul recovery. Many thanks for your prayers and support – updates will be on Facebook under “Pray for Kim Buttram” – we cannot adequately thank you for praying and caring.

          Meantime we’ll go on with the task at hand of getting to the November election and ridding ourselves of the “effects of our mutable policies.”  -- What’s that -- asks the ‘peanut gallery?’ – Just think what immutable (unchanging) means – and you’ve got your foot on the first step of an education.

          Mutable policies, according to, James Madison, may as well be lieing since they ‘poison the blessings of liberty itself.’ What is the good of being able to choose your own leaders if they then write laws so voluminous or incoherent they cannot be understood? Look it up -- it’s in Federalist number Sixty -- two!
