Some days I question my grammar and spelling more than others... But having made some adjustments in my dictionary and concentrating on getting things right since I started working of the print media and editors began to go bald around me – I am now more confident than I used to be.
Do I have a foundation for that? I think the foundation was the chair on which I sat, was at the wrong place in front of the computer screen and a new keyboard was making the stretch of the right hand pinky to reach the backspace key painful. Therefore I became a sort of odd-ball corpus “something or other” typo prone “K”
But having adjusted the chair and taken a big slug of what I think was horse liniment (Is ‘Sloan’s Liniment’ for people or horses at Churchill Downs – I forgot?) In any case I’m not cured but I feel better. So as we travel pitty-pat around the round place we see if we can improve the place and pace a bit – at least I’m more cheerful, and we know The Lord loves a Cheerful giver – what about a Cheerful loser? It’s a futile question anyway since I’ve never wagered on the four hoofed beasts in any case. I just admire them for the numbers of times in which they seem to fool the bookies.
So we’re still more than a hundred days from the election. If my little hand calculator doesn’t fail me I find today to be the 198th day of 2012 and Nov. 6th to be the 311th of 2012… that means we are close to 113 days away from election day (or nights). Or if you if you prefer --16 weeks and a fraction.
Don’t stay up nights trying to smooth out the fractions to whole numbers…it won’t work.
See you tomorrow…I trust.
Cordially, In HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
IS IT AN UNLIKELY SCENERIO?
Just a Minute: How come Mitt Romney, nominating Condoleezza Rice as his running mate for Vice President, raises eyebrows or stimulates snickers? I see it neither as hilarious or somehow beyond the pale. (No pun intended.)
In her weekend column Peggy Noonan seems to view Miss Rice an “off the wall” candidate -- one who absolutely fails the test; or who is simply too far off the ‘beaten path’ for V.P. candidates; neither of which – in my opinion -- is worthy of consideration.
The former Secretary of State has comported herself equal to, or far beyond, the capabilities of many men who have held the office. And I don’t consider myself sufficiently educated or experienced in managing foreign and diplomatic affairs to grade Miss Rice’s performance in the number two office. But I daresay she would make a far more compelling and competent candidate than the current occupant who is never quite able to figure out if the microphone is ‘live’ or dead or how to deliver a speech without sounding like a cheetah just out of his cage. .
