Hello – it’s MONDAY – First day of the Last month for the year 2008… Movin’ right along:
Did you have a fabulous Thanksgiving Holiday? I hope so… and that you didn’t break the bank on “Black Friday.” [I have to say I don’t like the name of that … but perhaps it properly casts the pall of materialism over the whole scene. We could very well do without that just fine.]
Our family is enjoying the prospects and pleasures of Thanksgiving and Christmas wrapped up in love expressed to and from the family members, neighbors – and for all the folks involved in charity and relief efforts for those who are struggling to keep above the economic floodwaters. Stories of tragedy and heartache are particularly poignant at this time of year – although certainly compassion and generosity shouldn’t be confined to those holidays. We are in good standing to bestow love and care on one another *anytime.*
There’s a “bee in a bottle” type battle going on in DC and its environs right now. I feel sorrow for the participants. Of course there’s the westward branch of the story out in Chicago but shortly it will almost totally be back inside the beltway with a little excursion in January when the Bush’s get back to Crawford.
What makes me *really* sad as I do my research to get the materials together for JUST A MINUTE day by day – is to read some of the hateful comments zinging back and forth on the blogosphere or in the ‘letter’s’ column in newspapers. They give evidence of people who have been hurt and are bent on returning that hurt on someone else. In
We have so much to be thankful for here – and in our really and truly generous communities I’m just ashamed when the wheels jump the track and hateful and hurtful things are passed among us. There’s no need for that and it’s within the realm of reason to see it cut back to the bone. But now I’m lecturing and need to be more compassionate and understanding myself.
I know this – we have a loving caring Heavenly Father – whose “Mercy Endureth Forever.” But you have to put yourself within that circle of mercy – it can be done, and in this country there are abundant and open avenues for such a transaction to take place. Grab onto one.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
WHOSE HANDS ARE ON THE WHEEL?
JUST A MINUTE – Reading newswires, and noting how pundits are divided sorting through the conflicting images of crystal balls – the forecasts of a transparent administration may be premature.
Kimberly Strassel leads off her Wall Street Journal column with:”Never hire someone you can’t afford to fire.” First Exhibit – Hillary Clinton: Highest-profile name pegged for Obama’s Cabinet as a would-be Secretary of State. Some say “absolutely fantastic;” others say “absolutely not!” re-reading what Obama and his cohorts said during a protractedly pointed campaign to ‘shred’ Hillary’s foreign policy credentials.
Strassel notes Barack will be getting two for the price of one but it’ll require both hands to hold ‘em back. Will the
Taken all together, the forecast may be for a “crisis of the month ride” in those cloudy crystal balls.
