PASTOR WARREN PICKED FOR PRAYER -- Just a Minute 12-22-08

            Good Mornin’ Breakfast Clubbers –

 

            That’s the way the host of ABC radio’s Breakfast Club used to begin each day’s morning variety program originating out of Chicago – and that was followed by a “march around the breakfast table.” To get your corpuscles flowing. His first name was Don… but right now I can’t call up the second… perhaps someone who remembers can e-mail me… I’ll put it on another day.

 

            Anyway – those were the ‘golden days’ of radio.  Which is about to meet its demise – if you listen to radio’s doom sayers. I did have a friend who is deeply involved in supplying content for many radio stations across America say he’d recently met a 19 year old guy who didn’t know what an AM radio was. So… Is it a dieing industry or already dead?  Another question for another day.

 

            Today… I’m just relaying an Ap story that tells of Pastor Rick Warren having to duck the shoes thrown by irate California members of the LGBT (that’s not a sandwich) alliance beet red angry at Obama and his team for picking Warren who apparently threw his influence as a pastor behind Proposition 8 on the California ballot which nullified the same-sex marriage provision that had been incorporated into the California charter by the courts. From what I read on the blogs… they are angry BIG TIME – and want to do something about it – like having Warren dis-invited (or worse).

 

            Well… it’s Orange County, California – which has for decades been a battleground between conservative and liberal notions. It’s John Wayne country – that’s who the airport is named after – AND it’s got a large sprinkling of Hollywood liberals – or “progressives” as they prefer to be called. You’ll hear a LOT more about this before it’s over I suspect. It may even push bailout news off the front pages.

“JUST A MINUTE”

PASTOR WARREN PICKED FOR PRAYER

Just A Minute – The Associated Press reported Saturday, Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren is to offer the official inaugural prayer at Mr. Obama’s ceremony. The news set off a firestorm among homosexuals and Hollywood liberals.

I’ll only quote from the AP story (quote): “Under fire for opposing gay marriage, influential evangelical pastor Rick Warren said Saturday that he loves Muslims, people of other religions, Republicans and Democrats, and he also loves ‘gays and straights.’"

“The 54-year-old pastor and founder of Saddleback Church in Southern California told the crowd of 500 it's unrealistic to expect everyone to agree on everything all the time.

"You don't have to see eye to eye to walk hand in hand," said Warren, … [adding] "Three years ago I took enormous heat for inviting Barack Obama to my church because some of his views don't agree (with mine)," he said. "Now he's invited me."

That ends the AP quote. I’ve made no comment – I just wanted you to know.
