Merry Christmas… *There* -- I’ve said it… so if I offended you … sue me.
How’s that for an Ebenezer Scrooge beginning to a Christmas message? Basically I liked Scrooge… more for him *being* a character rather than his miserly ways… although my wife thinks I must mostly be in the miserly mode since I look closely at prices when we’re grocery shopping. – I just rather see a guy or lady make an honest choice and stick with it. Atheism has to be a deadly dull thing to defend. No wonder they’re sad and mostly pull long faces.
Today I guess I just spent too much time reading a blog – actually a newspaper service called a blog… but I don’t think it is one in the strict sense of the word – in any case the editor says he’s an unbeliever – but he seems to be a pretty nice guy. But he calls today ‘Boxing Day Eve’ in order to avoid using the name Christmas… which, for his money, really is promoting Christianity. I think he may have a point although I’m not going to debate him. (Whisper – He’s afraid a Christian might win.)
Anyway, he’s not a Christopher Hitchens or Professor Dawkins type… I think they must be very unhappy. They just seem to be perpetually grumpy about Christians having all the fun of Christmas and they are left out in the cold – so to speak. Well, indeed I do feel sorry for them. I’m tempted to point out they’ve made their own bed and therefore it’s there for the lying in it. But they seem content. I’m sorry. And I know they don’t want my pity…. Pity they don’t. Oh well. I’ll pray for them anyway. There’s no way they can enforce an action against me for that. It’s still a free country. [We just don’t know for how long.]
Have a Blessed Christmas… and remember even Scrooge eventually had a good time even though he didn’t start out that way.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
A CRITICAL, HISTORICAL CROSSING
Just A Minute – In 1776 it was uncertain if
There’s plenty of historical accounts of that brave crossing – I recommend today be one in which we not only remember the Christ-child coming into the world to sacrifice Himself in securing our salvation, but also to realize the risks George Washington and his brave band of brothers -- outnumbered and outgunned by the Hessians -- rallied to his leadership and scored a victory marking a critical point in America’s battle.
What if he had given up? What if the valiant men whose enlistments were almost up, who thought the crossing ill-advised and too hazardous had turned their backs? We would not be remembering their victory 232 years ago today.
Let us give thanks to God for HIS amazing grace.
