GOVERNOR MOONBEAM RIDES AGAIN -- Just A Minute Radio for Wednesday April 14th, 2010

Good morning (or afternoon) once again….

You’re in for an interesting re-run today as we look at the race for Governor in the Golden State.  Governor Jerry Brown the youngest lad to hike the Yellowstone precipice trail in the early 40’s watched his Dad serve two terms as California’s chief executive – then after serving in various elected offices made his own run for Governor in 1975 and was re-elected to a second term.

He proposed California should buy it’s own orbiting satellite for emergency use – and eventually the orbiting thingy’s that began with the Russian “Sputnick” actually did something similar to what Gov. Jerry proposed.  Mike Royko of the Chicago Tribune dubbed him “Governor Moonbeam” but has since apologized and says he’s as serious as any other politician.

Also he’s served as Mayor of Oakland as well as on various councils and other elected offices to the point where a lot of Californians find him as ubiquitous as Arnold Schwarzenegger – or maybe it’s the other way around.

Anyway presently he’s California’s AG – Attorney General. He is a Yale Law graduate -- lawyer and an ever present-figure in California politics – now part of the seventh decade set and wanting to run again for Governor.  He’s up against millionaire Meg Whitman, who gets the credit and indeed the millions that e-bay has brought her – and they are in a tight race.  What’s clouding the picture is a chief of law enforcement and his wife (a millionaire entrepreneur of GAP clothing in her own right) putting out calls to TV media asking them to pull ads about the former Governor he doesn’t like. That’s crossing the line, I think, for the state’s chief policeman.  It’s part of what bodes to be an extraordinary time between now and November.

I find it hard to be ‘fair’ to a politician like Brown.  He’s obviously addicted to the spotlight – and does things that seem totally dedicated to bringing him attention. At the same time – as a Christian – I’m not entitled to judge his motives.  Sometimes they seem pretty obvious – sometimes just puzzling, as in his visits to the Far East to embrace Buddhism – while he lists himself as a Roman Catholic.  One doesn’t know what to believe or how seriously to take his campaign rhetoric.  I guess you’ll just have to make your own investigation and decision. My only advice… be careful.

            Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

GOVERNOR MOONBEAM RIDES AGAIN

MizP:  Jist A Minute – Mr. Jack, -- Who is governor, “Moonbeam?”

Jack: That’s a fictitious nickname applied to California’s Attorney General Jerry Brown.

MizP: Does he write chirren’s stories?

Jack: No Miz Pearlie – he’s the son former Governor Pat Brown – who served California from ‘59 to ‘6 7 – his son Jerry ran for governor himself and was elected in ’75 to serve for eight years in Sacramento – making somewhat ‘wispy decisions getting designated “Governor Moonbeam.”

MizP: Hit sounds like a chirren’s story.

BB: You’ze rite about tha-ut Miz Pearl. Californee politics is purty crazy.

Jack: Billy-bob’s correct Miz Pearlie.  Jerry Brown’s aiming for a comeback now – but older voters have sour memories of his governorship – it’s an obstacle.

MizP: Who’s his ‘ponent?

Jack: His opponent thus far is Republican businesswoman, Meg Whitman, who gave us E-bay.

MizP: Th’ place where you sell stuff on th’ Internet?

Homer: Thass hit Miz P.  Ain’t hit strange?

BB: Hit ain’t strange fer Californee, Homer.

Homer: Well… Caroliner politics is strange fer tha-ut matter.

Jack: Don’t leave out Georgia –

Homer: But South Caroliner has some ‘catfish’ strange uns.

BB:  Yeah – like “Pitchfork” Ben Tillman er “Cotton” Ed Smith … –

MizP: Or Strong Thummon fer tha-ut matter.

BB: Whut we need is sum kinder legislation fer th’ ‘Merican voters at wud keep ‘em frum votin’ fer pickin people as aint ever run a biniss er met a payroll er even taut a kindergarden class.

Homer: See Mr. Brown is Attorney General now – Thass law ‘forcment – shunt be a-callin’ up folks astin’ ta have TV ads critical taken off th’ air.

Jack: That’s not exactly cricket.

MizP: Whut’s tha-ut English game got to do wif it?

Jack:  Uh… I think we’re off in the weeds here again. Join all of us again next Wednesday… I’m Jack Buttram.

SAME OLE -- What goes around...--- Just A Minute Radio for Monday 100412

            Hello on *another* Monday….

Well, we’ve had a couple of nice days and a couple of tornados apparently from the looks of the wreckage.  Just fortunate no lives were lost..

On the political scene – we’re not so sure.  Marco Rubio is apparently continuing his high speed ramp-up in the Florida Senate Primary.  Possibly you remember former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani aiming for the GOP presidential nod in 2008 when he was hanging his hopes on winning the Florida primary.  Well… he didn’t win it.  Largely due to  Charlie Crist – at that time the *popular* governor of Florida who Mayor Giuliani was counting on to help him win in a landslide in the Sunshine State.

But Charlie didn’t come through – at the last minute he swung his support to John McCain – at least that’s the story we got at the time – and so the former Mayor was left in a non-win third place finish in Florida.  And finish it was because he decided his long shot had been mis-fired and he dropped out of the race.   Now the situation is awkward… Mr. Crist could use Mr. Giuliani’s help but for some reason he seems to prefer to endorse Marco Rubio – Mr. Crist’s challenger – and Giuliani says Marco is “the only candidate that can be trusted to enunciate Republican principles in Washington. “

Question: Is turn about fair play?  In politics you’d better watch your back. “

Rumor has it Mr. Crist, who has a bunch of campaign money, but his chances of winning have grown appreciable slimmer, is angry enough at Mr. Giuliani’s characterization that he just may pick up his marbles and go play on the independents’ playground. Which could bode ill for holding on to that Senate seat currently in the GOP ranks.

Meantime Giuliani decided not to challenge Kirsten Gillibrand for that New York Senate nomination… so baseball anyone?  They’re swingin’ for the fences!

“JUST A MINUTE”

SAME OLE – ‘WHAT GOES AROUND …

Just a Minute: -- Last Monday Rudy Giuliani threw his “Sinker” endorsing Marco Rubio in Florida's red-hot senate primary.  With his mile-wide grin in Coral Gables a week ago Giuliani tossed in: -- "This is an easy choice," He said. "He is the one and only candidate we can trust to represent Republican principles in Washington."

Ohhhh My  – Back in 2008 the Former NY Mayor was pitchin’ hard for Florida voters counting on Florida Governor Charlie Crist. – But Crist at the last moment endorsed McCain.  That dumped the former Gotham Mayor into a lame third finish – and he dropped out of the presidential sweepstakes.

Now the horseshoe’s on the other hoof. The Giuliani endorsement hits at a particularly bad time for Crist  -- his pictorial Obama hug has dunked him in the poll standings – while Jeb Bush, Sr. hasn’t said who he’s for -- yet.

Speculation is rife Crist will  jump out of the GOP and run as an independent. – Giuliani, meantime, took a walk and didn’t challenge New York Senator Kirsten Gilibrand, so … where will he light next?

HOLY HOOPS! -- Just A Minute Radio for Friday 100409

Howdy again for a Friday – it’s a beautiful day in Chicago!

And many other parts of the land too.  I seem to always be surprised by Spring.  This year we had volunteer Irises that just appeared by surprise under the BIG tulip poplar in the front yard… And  the sole little undernourished flame azalea bush that’s hiding behind the tree trunk – not seen from the street put on a show that makes a shabby gardener feel good!  I just wish I had a tenth of the talent my Dad demonstrated to me as a kid…when I’m afraid I wasn’t paying attention.  I learned a lot from Mom too… but as I grow older I see what a great example my Dad demonstrated to me – when I hardly knew it was going on.  In adulthood… I can hardly stop counting the blessings… and I’m sorry I didn’t make my gratitude plainer when he was here.

Well,, enough for a beautiful day like today… this IS the day the Lord hath made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.  We have had visits recently from our kids and some of the grandkids who’ve been living out in the S. Pacific more than in the States during their ‘growing up years’ – my how quickly they fly by,  You only have to look at a tea kettle to get a picture of what the Bible says about life being like a vapor that appears for a moment and then vanishes away.

Last week I ran across a lovely article about plants that eat insects… The Venus Fly Trap – the Pitcher Plant – and others.  It was very good and informative except for one thing.  This botanist scholar who wrote the piece – also beautifully illustrated by a *very* talented photography,  apparently never saw the hand of God in the development and beauty of these plants.  Amazingly these carnivorous plants grow in places (bogs and swamps and such) in which the nitrogen content of the soil or surroundings is very low.  That’s why they are there… and why they love the insect meals that come along and drop into their traps…

Then the plants that have been so attractive to the insects then entrap their prey and their sticky syrup becomes enzymes that turn them into goo which the plant digests.  The insides become lethal … and they trip the trigger or whatever, and become a meal for the plant.  The Venus Fly Trap isn’t troubled by rainwater falling on it’s wide open maw… but just let the tiniest insect touch the hair trigger twice in a short space and the vegetable leaves snap shut in less than a tenth of a second… and that without discernable muscles.

How “scientists” switch over in an instant to magicians, believing what their observations show to be false, they ignore  these magnificent floral structures which are far too complicated and specialized to have ‘evolved’ – and how would a mere plant without even a primitive brain, ever had a sense of where it was or what it was supposed to do or how to do it.  Not to be able to see the Lord God of Creation in such an obvious example boggles my mind.  I guess I’m just as much a mystery to him as he is to me.  In any case we live in a wonderful world the Lord has created… and one of these days it will be even more perfect and enjoyed by those who have placed their trust in the Lord.

Got to get to other things now… Hope you have a perfect rest of the day and this bountiful week we’ve been celebrating as Jesus’ resurrection from the tomb… more miraculous than the Venus Fly Trap by far!

“JUST A MINUTE”

HOLY HOOPS

Just a Minute: -- Duke beat Butler for  the NCAA championship by one point … Both teams were commendable.

Chuck Colson and the Wall St. Journal ,  detailed a story of Basketball’s founding by John Murray.

Over a hundred years ago James Naismith, a Christian, took a PE instructor’s job at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts. He determined to develop an indoor game for students in winter.  Working as a PE instructor for the training school he settled on a game, where the ball could be handled easily,  goals at each end of the floor, and with running and passing, but no tackling. He insisted “The game must be kept clean.”–anyone not holding to that standard was out for the rest of the year.

Colson suggests If there’s a basketball player in your family, tell him or her, how the game came about – and show the game has been used as a witnessing tool now for over 100 years. -- Thanks to Colson and the Wall St. Journal for highlighting the history of this game designed to “win men for the Master, through the gym.”

THIS HAS BEEN A CRAZY SERIES - Just A Minute Radio for Wednesday 100407

Hello again… it’s WEDNESDAY and ‘hump’ day – half way there halfway back.

Spring has really sprung a good one on us this year… the grass on the back 40 hardly gets  the mower off of it till it’s time to cut again – Seemed like the Bradford Pears turned while like someone had thrown a switch.  The same thing happened to the red buds… of course the daffodils and jonquils jumped out like rabbits at the start – and wonder of wonders in a little iris garden we hardly knew was  there… the’re blomin’ like mad…. All white and looks like we’ll have a bumper  bunch of white ‘flags’.

The hedges have a bumper crop of red berries left over from winter that have now started looking like coffee beans – but the most amazing thing is the bee activity.  I kept a couple of hives of bees up in North Carolina… but I’ve never seen honey bees … and either bumble bees or borer bees flock around one of the hedges to sip the nectar in really small blossoms, so little I didn’t even know they’re there.  So… now I guess it’s the bird’s turn to get those nests built and sit where they can watch and hear the mocking birds – of which we have a goodly flock.

Altogether I’ve seen lots of cardinals, mocking birds, chickadees and a scattering of titmouse couples.  We don’t seem to have as many finches as we did in NC… but the house or ‘barn’ finches are out in force… no goldens so far however… and again in NC even though we were in the woods they used to descend like a flock of chickens to the feeder… but there we had not Cardinal #1.  Earlier we saw the nuchatches… t hey seem to be around most of the time. A boat tailed grackle or two.  In the winter I kept a suet block hanging out back… but figure the birds need to get to the worms now… and the suet block was the favorite snacking place of a rufous bellied woodpecker who visited regularly – but now that the weather is warmer he’s not around.   Also we miss the little ‘winter birds’ with their slate grey and black vests or ‘tummies’ as the kids call ‘em… they’ve gone further north now I think.  I’m not much on which way and when they go.  What I’ve not seen at all so far are the Hummingbirds… maybe next week.

Anyway… that’s a nice break from Harry Reid, and Hamid Karzai exchanging mean glances across the world at one another… so many things are being promised or retracted and the air feels full of ill will… I guess I’ll concentrate on flowers next week… Oh yes… we managed to get the water oak trimmed back a bit so more sunshine on the non-existent grass… One thing at a time… (J)

Have a great day… Cordially, IN HIM

Once More: "HOLD ON THAR, QUICK DRAW-"II Just a Minute Radio for Monday 10040

Hello again – it’s MONDAY… and we get right to it….

On Friday we left you in ‘suspenders’ perhaps asking the question posed by my High School History Teacher in 1948 when I was near graduation from Virginia’s Montvale High School. Mr. Everett had posed the question to a class of Juniors and Seniors like this: “Who in the Government of the United States, ultimately makes the decisions?”

Also I left a hint here on the blog that seeking the answer to that question would best be done after re-reading the TENTH AMENDMENT to the U.S. Constitution. (I used a little vest-pocket sized copy supplied by First Foundations in Traveler’s Rest, SC. )  I’m sure I don’t need to recall for our eminently erudite readers here that the first ten amendments to that document – which had been argued over extensively during a long, hot, un-air-conditioned building in a Philadelphia Summer – were what we call nowadays ‘THE BILL OF RIGHTS’ – and that tenth one specifically says powers not delegated to the U.S. by the States nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the people. 0321healthA04

Well – you get the idea.  Mr. Everett was vociferous… and not by nature a rabble rouser – he simply wanted us as young Virginians to *remember* the ultimate power rests with the people… and when others ( like the Speaker of the House, the Vice President or the President or *anyone else* who does not have the Constitutionally delegated power tries to wrest it from them  – it goes back to the PEOPLE.

As you may tell… that thought has remained with me for close to sixty years now – Bless Mr. Everett’s memory.  When Congressional leadership and/or Executive Leadership, or even Judicial leadership, takes over powers reserved and delegated properly, and presumes to do what *they* decide is best for the country… then the train is off the track – derailed in the weeds… and needs righting and correcting.

That’s the spirit that moved the Minute Men at Concord… and caused Patrick Henry heartburn  -- and lingers to this day in this land between the oceans.  It’s what put the steam in the Tea Party’s kettle – and when powers are unconstitutionally grabbed, twisted  and crammed down the throat of the populace – we have an historic and revolutionary atmosphere wafting across Bunker Hill and Concord Green.

That’s what’s moving like a mighty river – and no matter if Steny Hoyer AND Madam Nancy call for the tide to recede… it’s coming I believe, and the will of the people will NOT be thwarted.

Well… it’s a bit slippery up here on the soap box… but the effort is genuine and will be further discussed later in the week.

            Cordially, IN HIM

            Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

Once More --“HOLD ON THERE, ‘QUICK-DRAW”

Just a Minute: -- Friday, we left you with the question my high school history teacher gave us in 1948 – which all of us missed – I promised to check your answers today.  Mr. Everett asked --“Who, in the U.S. Government, ultimately makes the decisions?”

My blogspot hint pointed you to the Tenth Amendment – and a little pocket version printed by First Foundations of Traveler’s Rest says in part “…powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution…nor prohibited to the states, are reserved to the states respectively… or to the people.

Mr. Everett pounded his desk: -- “You – are the people -- the final say. The Declaration of Independence begins: -- ‘We the People’... If you want to, and enough people agree with you -- you can fire the whole bunch today and start over.”

If you checked the JUST A MINUTE hint, I’m guessing you got the right answer.  Wednesday, the folks at the Bait-Shop and Sushi Bar on the Caroliner line will be talking it over and reading your answers right here. Join in with your e-mail.

"HOLD ON THAR "QUICK-DRAW" - Just A Minute Radio for Friday 100402NotSoFast

            Howdy Folks… it’s FRIDAY!

And here we are at the end of the week… and it’s Good Friday to boot… kids (for the most part) are out of school – and time to do something besides ‘chores.’  Well… most of us don’t live on farms anymore… so we really don’t know what ‘chores’ are…

But for the uninitiated amongst us… those were the ‘reglar’ jobs that *had* to be done to keep the farm running smoothly…watering, and feeding and cleaning – as well as cooking and milking and … and … and you get the idea--- and I guess it’s that way not just on farms but in businesses and homes and schools and all the rest.  Kids at home on the weekends…think of homework as ‘chores.’ Or I did.

However today we want to – while the kids are on holiday – prod your brain cells a bit and ask a question to which we’re hoping we get lots of responses.

Listen to the program today… or read the script just below – and send along your answer.  I’ll be interested to see them and tabulate them and see what kind of progress our listeners are making (or readers)

Give it a listen and send along your answer – the e-mail address is at the bottom of this note… it’s not hard to do – and we’re not selling anything or amassing an address list… [Would I lie to you?  Not a bit!]

It’s not long – nor hard… and I’ll give you a clue which wasn’t on the air… the answer is in Amendment X.  You can’t miss it.

I’ll be looking for your note.

Cordially – and have a blessed Easter weekend remembering the Resurrection!

            Barb & Jack

This link takes you to the audio track (I hope).

And here’s the script:

“JUST A MINUTE”

“HOLD ON THERE, ‘QUICK-DRAW”

Just a Minute: -- Today is our ‘Good Friday’ part of the Easter celebration as we remember our Lord’s being raised from death. I’ve been thinking about what’s happening, uniquely, in America since the last Presidential election cycle began.

That took me back to being 16 in Montvale Virginia High School – my history teacher, Mr. Everett, posed this question to his class: “Who, in the U.S. Government, ultimately makes the decisions?”

We kicked it around half the class period – from “the President – no, the Congress – no, the Supreme Court.”  – While Mr. Everett – our teacher – stood at the front shaking his head negatively. Finally he called a halt saying: “You’ve all missed it. You, think back over this year -- we’ve been studying HISTORY – HISTORY! -- Not just social-studies.,You have  the weekend … come in Monday with the correct answer written on your paper – and you get an ‘A’ – otherwise it’s a Zero.”

I never forgot what happened that Monday.

If you’ll be here Monday… we’ll go over your papers. <>I’m Jack Buttram. (END)

COURAGE DOESN'T COME EASY OR CHEAP -- Just A Minute Radio for Wednesday 100331

Welcome once again to a little more normal start up.

We seem to be “making haste slowly” as a dear old lawyer – a friend of another family tried to explain to me as I got more and more frustrated with paper work problems.  Fortunately the Federal agency for which I was filling out a form was little better at deciphering the information that I was sending than I was at getting it right. So… I guess they gave up on me before my friend rescued me and increased my accuracy by about 300%... thus saving my bacon.

Since my job probably hung on getting that accepted – I was forever in the debt of my friend who seemed to manage the frustrations I felt with little effort.  Now I’m about as old as he was then… and I don’t think I’ve made much progress toward climbing over frustrating obstacles in my paperwork paths.  Added to that nowadays is the complexity of computers etc. I once thought I could master the beasts.  But I’ve about decided there are more of them with them than there are with us.  And I know that’s not what the prophet Elisha got to see when he was shown all the chariots of fire that surrounded him and the whole host of Israel. Every now and then I have to stop and think that whole thing through again.

I hope you’ve had a good week so far.  I think it’s probably shortsighted for us to live from weekend to weekend… so I’ve dropped dear old Paul Harvey’s cry IT’S FRIDAY! That he used every week. Although for a man who loved his work as much as he gave evidence… I don’t think he came to work on Monday down in the dumps.  He was *always* ‘up’ – at least he sounded that way when I heard him.  We miss him still.  I don’t think there will be another come along to take his place.

But that seems generally true in the realms of radio – or all broadcasting these days.  Some people do have a singular style… some I like and some not.  But perhaps it’s just perspective.  I don’t find another newsman who seemed to be so good at his work as Ed. Murrow – even though in retrospect I’m not as sure as I once was about his accuracy. Walter Cronkite was one of “Murrow’s Boys” as I think a whole host of CBS guys were back in the days of WWII and following. But Newspapers had some excellent writers and entertainers in print – more so than today I think… but then …I’m getting to be an ancient back number myself … so I’m sure the current oncoming crowd writes us off with considerable dexterity and aplomb. (Although I don’t think I ever knew what that meant. – I always think of some guy with an ostrich plume trailing behind his “capacious” costume.)  Praise the Lord for spell checkers – it found ‘capacious’ even though I mangled it badly.

Well all the cast has gone home to bed I suppose… reckon I better in order to get this in shape for the morrow. Nice to have you drop in. Drop me a note from time to time if the mood strikes.

            Cordially, IN HIM

TAKE A DEEP BREATH, SIDDOWN, COUNT TO TEN - Just A Minute Radio. 100329CoolingIt.doc

            Good Monday Again –

Lots of ill winds out there over the weekend.  Searchlite, NV was heavily populated Saturday, though scorned by its most famous Senate Majority Leader. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) who occasionally forgets whether he’s voting Aye or Nay, did remember to show up at the local shootin’ match range in his home state of Nevada while between eight and nine thousand Tea – Baggers – strolled around the former mining town and listened to the ex-Alaska Governor give a speech on why she – and apparently a LOT of others, think it’s time for the Senator from Searchlite ought to retire to the ranch.

However… it made good TV… and Fox News made the most of it although it’s probably hard to gage just how well the gerrymandered trip back east will do as it makes its way toward Washington DC.  The organizers plan something like 42 stops along the way. Nobody predicts with verifiable certainty how well the movement will succeed (or fail depending on your loose affiliation with the body politic) but it looks healthy and vigorous enough to provide some interesting vignettes on the way to DC.

The MSM made the most of the “threats” coming out of Saturday’s rally… although the police didn’t have much trouble from all I could gather.  Undoubtedly there will be more ruckus on the road back – rumor has it the Reid-Pelosi circus parade might even have planted a few raucous voices along the way to see if they can stir up dirt appearing to be attributable to the Taxed Enough Already (TEA-Partyites) – but surely such a highly principled Chicago Politician like Rahm Emmanual, WH Chief of Staff, would stoop to doing dirty work like that – especially since he’s been instructed to clean up his vocabulary.  Trouble is Vice President Biden keeps leading Rahm astray being a bad example.

Anyway… aside from the snowstorms out in the Rockies… shutting down Denver Airport for a short while… things look to be going along swimmingly for the Obama WH.  The President, afraid there would be such a massive crowd to meet him in Afghanistan, was forced to make a clandestine trip out that way.  He still hasn’t made a trip, clandestine or otherwise to Israel – and we know of none on the schedule – besides which the Prez is a bit behind in his use of AF One – the trips which he dearly loves due to their prestige factor. He had to cancel a couple of trips out to Indonesia and the South Pacific because his girls’ school schedules wouldn’t fit neatly into the limited time he had available after cancelling out twice and ruffling a lot of diplomatic feathers when he was jamming the health care bill down the throats of the ‘loyal’ opposition.

Oh… sorry… now I’ve lead you off the path of learning what’s going on in Washington these days.  I’ve gotten a bit behind myself… and when I catch up I’ll be sure to send along the information… Meanwhile we shall have to rely on Maestro Robert Gibbs of the Obama WH pressroom to keep us well-briefed and fully informed on what the President is doing or even intending to do – maybe.

            Cordially,

            Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

TAKE A DEEP BREATH, SIDDOWN, COUNT TO TEN

Just a Minute: -- The Internet and front pages are full of cautions about runaway anger.  Speculation on Tea-Party insouciance.

If that’s a concern give me a reading on this quotation from the Associated Press:
“The President said, in response to threats of violence –‘ “We welcome that fight.”

Is that remark a ‘throwaway’ line – or an invitation for a street gang calling itself the “Barack O’bombers” to go ahead and exercise their free speech rights in a crowded theater?  I

Testing that phrase on randomly selected disinterested parties,-- I did not get a response suggesting the President should be nominated for another Nobel Prize.  His response – described as ‘roaring’ in some headlines -- did not seem to dampen enthusiasm by those who disagree with his health care reform package called “Obama-Care” by some and irresponsible by others.

Instead It seems his immediate recipe for damping down dissention voiced during his campaign stop in Iowa to a group of American voter-citizens falls more into the category of spraying gasoline on an already ignited blaze.

Am I mistaken? Is that response what one would call ‘ Presidential?
