"HOLD ON THAR "QUICK-DRAW" - Just A Minute Radio for Friday 100402NotSoFast

            Howdy Folks… it’s FRIDAY!

And here we are at the end of the week… and it’s Good Friday to boot… kids (for the most part) are out of school – and time to do something besides ‘chores.’  Well… most of us don’t live on farms anymore… so we really don’t know what ‘chores’ are…

But for the uninitiated amongst us… those were the ‘reglar’ jobs that *had* to be done to keep the farm running smoothly…watering, and feeding and cleaning – as well as cooking and milking and … and … and you get the idea--- and I guess it’s that way not just on farms but in businesses and homes and schools and all the rest.  Kids at home on the weekends…think of homework as ‘chores.’ Or I did.

However today we want to – while the kids are on holiday – prod your brain cells a bit and ask a question to which we’re hoping we get lots of responses.

Listen to the program today… or read the script just below – and send along your answer.  I’ll be interested to see them and tabulate them and see what kind of progress our listeners are making (or readers)

Give it a listen and send along your answer – the e-mail address is at the bottom of this note… it’s not hard to do – and we’re not selling anything or amassing an address list… [Would I lie to you?  Not a bit!]

It’s not long – nor hard… and I’ll give you a clue which wasn’t on the air… the answer is in Amendment X.  You can’t miss it.

I’ll be looking for your note.

Cordially – and have a blessed Easter weekend remembering the Resurrection!

And here’s the script:

“JUST A MINUTE”

“HOLD ON THERE, ‘QUICK-DRAW

Just a Minute: -- Today is our ‘Good Friday’ part of the Easter celebration as we remember our Lord’s being raised from death. I’ve been thinking about what’s happening, uniquely, in America since the last Presidential election cycle began.

That took me back to being 16 in Montvale Virginia High School – my history teacher, Mr. Everett, posed this question to his class: “Who, in the U.S. Government, ultimately makes the decisions?”

We kicked it around half the class period – from “the President – no, the Congress – no, the Supreme Court.”  – While Mr. Everett – our teacher – stood at the front shaking his head negatively. Finally he called a halt saying: “You’ve all missed it. You, think back over this year -- we’ve been studying HISTORY – HISTORY! -- Not just social-studies.,You have  the weekend … come in Monday with the correct answer written on your paper – and you get an ‘A’ – otherwise it’s a Zero.”

I never forgot what happened that Monday.

If you’ll be here Monday… we’ll go over your papers. <>I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
