Once More: "HOLD ON THAR, QUICK DRAW-"II Just a Minute Radio for Monday 10040

Hello again – it’s MONDAY… and we get right to it….

On Friday we left you in ‘suspenders’ perhaps asking the question posed by my High School History Teacher in 1948 when I was near graduation from Virginia’s Montvale High School. Mr. Everett had posed the question to a class of Juniors and Seniors like this: “Who in the Government of the United States, ultimately makes the decisions?”

Also I left a hint here on the blog that seeking the answer to that question would best be done after re-reading the TENTH AMENDMENT to the U.S. Constitution. (I used a little vest-pocket sized copy supplied by First Foundations in Traveler’s Rest, SC. )  I’m sure I don’t need to recall for our eminently erudite readers here that the first ten amendments to that document – which had been argued over extensively during a long, hot, un-air-conditioned building in a Philadelphia Summer – were what we call nowadays ‘THE BILL OF RIGHTS’ – and that tenth one specifically says powers not delegated to the U.S. by the States nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the people. 0321healthA04

Well – you get the idea.  Mr. Everett was vociferous… and not by nature a rabble rouser – he simply wanted us as young Virginians to *remember* the ultimate power rests with the people… and when others ( like the Speaker of the House, the Vice President or the President or *anyone else* who does not have the Constitutionally delegated power tries to wrest it from them  – it goes back to the PEOPLE.

As you may tell… that thought has remained with me for close to sixty years now – Bless Mr. Everett’s memory.  When Congressional leadership and/or Executive Leadership, or even Judicial leadership, takes over powers reserved and delegated properly, and presumes to do what *they* decide is best for the country… then the train is off the track – derailed in the weeds… and needs righting and correcting.

That’s the spirit that moved the Minute Men at Concord… and caused Patrick Henry heartburn  -- and lingers to this day in this land between the oceans.  It’s what put the steam in the Tea Party’s kettle – and when powers are unconstitutionally grabbed, twisted  and crammed down the throat of the populace – we have an historic and revolutionary atmosphere wafting across Bunker Hill and Concord Green.

That’s what’s moving like a mighty river – and no matter if Steny Hoyer AND Madam Nancy call for the tide to recede… it’s coming I believe, and the will of the people will NOT be thwarted.

Well… it’s a bit slippery up here on the soap box… but the effort is genuine and will be further discussed later in the week.

            Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

Once More --“HOLD ON THERE, ‘QUICK-DRAW

Just a Minute: -- Friday, we left you with the question my high school history teacher gave us in 1948 – which all of us missed – I promised to check your answers today.  Mr. Everett asked --“Who, in the U.S. Government, ultimately makes the decisions?”

My blogspot hint pointed you to the Tenth Amendment – and a little pocket version printed by First Foundations of Traveler’s Rest says in part “…powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution…nor prohibited to the states, are reserved to the states respectively… or to the people.

Mr. Everett pounded his desk: -- You – are the people -- the final say. The Declaration of Independence begins: -- ‘We the People’... If you want to, and enough people agree with you -- you can fire the whole bunch today and start over.”

If you checked the JUST A MINUTE hint, I’m guessing you got the right answer.  Wednesday, the folks at the Bait-Shop and Sushi Bar on the Caroliner line will be talking it over and reading your answers right here. Join in with your e-mail.
