Well…things do begin to happen when you pay attention.
My son Kim, sill in some what of a coma state from the reports I get coming out of the hospital in
The Chick-fil-A story is still going strong – or as the newsies put it, it still has legs. But I think they are about to fade. Nobody really wants to argue. The Cathy family that founded and grew the franchise into what it is today have an iron-clad non-discrimination rule … and they operate in 39 states I believe with a string of stores that is 1600 to 1800 … I’ve gotten different numbers. In any case I saw a bigger crowd of cars yesterday in the Publix parking lot and cars lined up out on Wade Hampton waiting to get in.
But the crowd on Wednesday was very cheerful and calm – I suppose we’ll see what the crowd on Friday will be like. They’ve go an agenda – but the Chick-fil-A non discriminatory policy seems to take the steam out of any complaints. And the service on Wednesday was fairly fast especially since the crowd was so big. They had prepared for a crowd and worked their crew smoothly and diligently.
Well, I just hit the third yawn of the night… so I’ll pack it in until tomorrow – but expect to see you on the radio then and next week Lord Willing.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
ARE YOU AWAKE – OR ARE YOU SLEEPING
Just a Minute: Barbara and enjoyed our fried chicken and peach shake yesterday at our local Chick-fil-A so between now and Friday we’ll just relax and talk about what’s really happening.
The conflicts encountered from Chick-fil-A’s offer to have stores in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco really revolve around the question of Mr. Truett Cathey’s decision back in the 40’s to give his workers Sunday off so they could go to worship services or be with family if they wished but would not have to work on Sunday. I quoted their well publicized culture and service tradition … to treat everyone with “Honor dignity and respect regardless of their belief, race, creed *sexual orientation* or gender.”
And lays to rest questions of partiality or discrimination. But allowing a day off on the weekends raises hackles of some folks and suddenly they’ve developed odd ball questions out of the blue. Hey – there’s nothing discriminatory about giving *everybody* a day off each week. Who turns it into an argument? And why?
Well, let’s leave it at that and see how it turns out. <> I’m Jack Buttram.
