SOMEDAYS IT'S BETTER TO REMAIN SILENT -- for JUST A MINUTE RADIO -- Wednesday 110112

            Happy to have you with us today –

            I just happened to stumble across the TLC notes about the Palin Wilderness Adventure program that concluded its TV run either yesterday or recently.   I don’t get the TLC channel… so am unable to comment.  But the comments that were recorded on the screen I tumbled across were generally appreciative (except for certain dunderheads who seem to be attracted to their own comments that confirm “Fools names and funny faces always appear in public places.” (My grandmother told me that!)

Some folks want to write a message that’s supposed to be witty… and simply ends up being ‘odd.’  But I’m sure the “Lord God made them all.”  So… who am I to criticize. (L)

When I end up having to do this blog late at night… well… the quality I’m sure suffers. In addition I was really troubled by the efforts of some ‘lefties’ of the media who are just bound and determined to blame all the ills of the nation on those of us who stand over on the conservative side of the spectrum.

Just this week I corresponded with a friend from college days who apparently does not observe in the slightest how he seems to look down at everyone else… He was that way in school and in the 50+ years that have transpired since then… although he is ‘blessed’ with a PhD intellect and in some ways can be an exceedingly nice guy… he just doesn’t ‘get it’ – and hasn’t since I knew him in school.  What am I to do?

We had a disagreement over the situation in Tucson – and the fairly well certified- ‘disturbed’ -young man who took it on himself to kill six people and wound about 14… one of them a Congressional Representative from the Tucson area of Arizona. He sends me two justifications or semi-defenses of that shooter… I disagree and tell him I cannot understand someone with his moral/religious stand taking a position opposite mine… at least on this particular issue.  He thinks the right-wing radio-TV newspaper journalists bear responsibility for this.  I can’t see one shred of evidence that says this unfortunate ‘nut case’ has a leg to stand on. If he’s really mentally ill… get him some help… but don’t excuse him.  The testimony gathered thus far along those lines seems to be very clear and persuasive.

            I tell my “friend” this… he comes back with the accusation that my letter is ‘not very friendly’ – although I made it clear I still value him as a person… I just think he’s wrong. From that he ‘condescends’ to term me his ‘friend’ though it’s obviously not his true sentiment. And sends me a defense of his position from someone who thinks just like him.

            OK… I say… I’m leaving you in the company of the friends you choose… and sign it ‘Cordially’ which I really mean… and tell him he is still my friend although I see little reason we should try to communicate.  I don’t know how else to handle it.  Maybe someone else has a suggestion.  I still love the guy… I just feel sorry for his arrogant blindness… {But maybe that could be me…. I better look in the mirror.}

            Now, it would be more profitable for all of us if I sign this off and go to bed.

            Thanks for coming by and enjoying the folks at the Bait Shop and Sushi Bar.  See you soon !.

            Cordially to you too!  IN HIM
