Howdy Everybody… it’s MONDAY again… Just remember: Don’t make the same old mistakes … there are too many new ones to make.
But it looks like we’re headed full steam for the economic cliff. No matter how hard the minority tries to (with their admittedly damaged credibility because too many pork-addicts are in their herd) wave them off the economic catastrophe the Pelosi-Reid-Obama are aimed straight for – they become more and more determined like passengers on the Titanic – that America’s economy is ‘too big to fail.’
I’m pretty sick of critics tossing hand-grenades at the tea-party people. Of all the things we hold dear – especially in the South – it’s our ‘don’t tell me what to do -- attitude.’ And that’s what the left-wing bloggers seem to hate about us the most. They don’t care for an independent spirit that says we don’t want national health care – yes we want health insurance… just like any reasonable person wants fire insurance, and auto insurance etc. etc. But we don’t want the kind of bollixed up administration of health insurance that would come out of the Post Office or the V.A. When government gets its fingers in something, efficiency flies out the window and “Look Ma No Hands” takes over the operational mode. Ask anyone who’s been in the services… or had to ‘negotiate’ with the IRS… it becomes an ordeal not a picnic.
Well – enough grousing for a Spring morning. Carpe Dieum (I think that’s right – my poor Latin is only exceeded by my poor French) Let’s get on with the muddling through until we see the light at the end of the tunnel or any other cliché’ you can come up with at the moment.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
HOW TO GET UP AND GO
JUST A MINUTE – Remember Lee Iacocca? He was the head of Chrysler when ‘bailout’ was invented. His corporation got the first one – and although I disagreed with it at the time (and still say that’s not government’s function) – but Iacocca made his bailout work – the company was rescued and eventually paid the money back.
Now he’s asking “Where are the leaders?” And he lays on enough sandpaper to give everybody brush burns.
Here’s how he concludes: “If I've learned one thing, it's this: 'You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in [a] "Call to Action" for people who, like me, believe in
Iacocca use some pretty tough language – but I’m convinced, having lived basically through the same period, he’s singing the right song. Americans need to join the chorus.
