ROMNEY BANDWAGON REVS UP TO ROLL - Audio and text for Monday 120326

Frankly, it’s been a long time a-comin’ and we ain’t there yet… but we’re makin’ progress. (J)

In the *game* of politics things either happen too slowly or to fast.  We’ll just have to wait and see how this one works out.

Last Thursday Sen. Jim DeMint was reported to have visited the National Journal, which is one of the ‘inside’ papers in DC in that just about every lobbying organization in the Capital gets it and the word spreads fast. Pretty soon it was on the national wires – although the news cycle was overloaded with lots of breaking stories – and word was spreading that Sen. DeMint, a leading figure in the TEA PARTY movement, was throwing encouraging ‘weight’ behind the Romney effort moving toward GOP Convention success. The Senator, told reporters he was not endorsing just at this time. He went on to say – as one of the most conservative members of Congress [mentioned in the Wall St. Journal’s electronic “Opinion Journal” – he would certainly ‘be satisfied’ with Mr. Romney as the nominee.

The language from Mr. DeMint in the Friday WSJ column was: “I can tell conservatives from my perspective … I’m not only comfortable with Romney, I’m excited about the possibility of him possibly being our our nominee,” he added “ Again, this is not a formal endorsement and I do not intend to do that right now, but I just think we need to look at where we are.”

Seems like the Romney bandwagon is picking up some steam. <> I’m Jack Buttram. (END)

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

THE ROMNEY BANDWAGON REVS UP TO ROLL

Just a Minute: Both the Wall St. Journal’s “Opinion Journal” and National Journal shifted gears over the weekend and noted a consequential development that South Carolina’s Sen. Jim DeMint has now swung his outlook toward the Romney Campaign as he rolls on toward the finish line and they are now touting the former Massachusetts governor.

Mr. DeMint said he’s not endorsing at this time -- as one of the most conservative members of Congress and a figure in the tea party ranks -- but he met with the candidate last Thursday and told reporters later he would certainly be satisfied with Mr. Romney as the nominee.

What was also printed in the Journal report by Monday was: “I can tell conservatives from my perspective … I'm not only comfortable with Romney, I'm excited about the possibility of him possibly being our nominee," he added "Again, this is not a formal endorsement and I do not intend to do that right now, but I just think we just need to look at where we are."

Seems like the Romney bandwagon is picking up some steam. <> I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
