Howdy everybody….
How come everyone’s pupils tend to be shaped like TV screens? Been watching FOX or Antiques Road Show or Jeopardy. Ah HA… I thought so…
20 hours of trying to ‘catch the news’ and not enough sleep.
That’s why you’ve put on extra pounds and a nervous tic. You have to take these things in moderation friend. If you watch Congress too much your wife or husband may accuse you of Filibuster… And that’s a hard rap to beat. You’ll be wanting to cite this and that and quote who knows how man congressmen and Senators.
Oh yes… the Congresswoman ‘Gabby’ who was shot at a moment of heat in
Well… I’m not going back over all the discussions. I feel like I’ve heard every jot and tittle already… and don’t want to go through it again.
I do think we owe one another civility – and patience and an understanding of what we’re concerned about even if we don’t fully understand just what *they* are disturbed about.
So… It’s time to sharpen my pencils and go… can’t keep up with all the changes anyway… and besides that they’re coming back after their August recess and go through it all again… only with different numbers. It’s like a jigsaw marathon. I’m just asking the Lord to let us go through all this and come out better. Not necessarily financially better… but better as a nation and as a family and as a friend.
May the Lord bless you all.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack
“JUST A MINUTE”
WHO INVENTED THIS GAME ANYWAY?
Just a Minute: The ‘morning after’ opinion from the Wall St. Journal is: “If a good political compromise is one that has something for everyone to hate, then last night's bipartisan debt-ceiling deal is a triumph.” Probably there was no clear winner – just a contest that’ll continue through Thanksgiving and longer.
But the Tea Party forces fared best in the evaluation of Paul Krugman, the New York Times lead op-ed writer the who said: “A deal to raise the federal debt ceiling is in the works. If it goes through, many commentators will declare disaster was avoided. But they will be wrong.” Krugman is followed by Ross Douthat, batting clean-up -- who conveys: “the anti-tax lobby gets to count this deal as a flat-out win…”
So while we can’t mark the score as a home run – our side didn’t strike out either. The best advice is attributed (likely in error) to Oliver Cromwell in his struggle against the king – that we should be certain to keep our trust in God, -- but keep our powder dry. <>I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
