THE WALLS DIDN'T FALL DOWN - Just A Minute Radio for Monday 110808

Wonderfully HOT August!  Well what else did you expect.

In looking at a weather map which records in red the hot weather over the past 60 days or so… I see we here in upstate South Carolina are in the moderate   draught zone – but that’s not as bad as the majority of TEXAS which is severe draught depiction over almost all of it’s large area.

And if there was a depiction of the rhetoric expressed thus far into the 2012 election prospect we would be in a major flood zone – with the water still rising and looks like sandbagging isn’t going to staunch the flow. I’ve watched elections rather closely since my early teens – the first election I really got to vote in was when Eisenhower was elected for his first term – and a LOT of votes have gone over the dam since then.  This coming year and some months, isn’t election… it’s boiling down to a brawl.

Tomorrow I’ll try to round up what that remark “… Don’t call my bluff!”  said by the President meant when he walked out of the Boehner, McConnell, Pelosi meeting back in July.  Bits and pieces begin to make sense… so be sure to be around tomorrow if you can… we’re unraveling the Rosetta stone of Obama political talk.  I’ve been piecing together all the accounts I can lay my hands on… so we’ll see what makes sense.

Meantime… we do have a long and tiring way to go before that election.  So… see if you can relax in this August heat.

By the way… this month does generally average out to the hottest of the year. So be sure and stay hydrated… but that doesn’t mean standing outside in a thunderstorm without umbrella or raincoat. Oh yes… I almost forgot… late in the day yesterday I found out Timothy Geithner has agreed to stay on in the Obama Administration at least until the election is past. I’m sure the Republic as a whole is breathing a sigh of relief… we don’t have to go through another confirmation hearing for the Treasury Secretary and then have to do it all over again when we get a new President right away. (J)… See there are always little rays of sunshine.

Stick with us… in WWII the ‘dog faces’ (otherwise known as the infantry) used to have a gallows humor saying that went: “It goes along like this for a while – and then it gets worse.” So buckle your seat belts tightly fellers and girls… from here on out is gonna be a rough ride… but the RE-ward’ll be great!  Don’t miss it.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

THE WALLS DIDN’T FALL DOWN…

Just a Minute: Thirty thousand Texans cheered Gov. Rick Perry’s call for prayer in Houston on Saturday and according to the AP – no walls fell down. This was in spite of a major push by Americans United for Separation of Church and State who flew their chief in from DC and who ended up saying he thought the views expressed by those rallying are shared by a lot of people in the country.

Perry was the main speaker and even main stream media accounts reported him keeping the focus on God and not himself. Of criticism the Governor said: “He’s a wise God and he’s wise enough to not be affiliated with any political party.”

Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas read from Second Chronicles and the Book of Matthew. Gov. Rick Scott of Florida sent a pre-recorded message. National Christian leaders like James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, and Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention lent their support.

Perry hasn’t announced or renounced candidacy – others wait in the wings. Since we’re more than a year away from the 2012 election, we say: “stay tuned.” <> I’m Jack Buttram.  (END)
