WHEN THE TUMULT AND THE SHOUTING DIES... - for JUST A MINUTE on Monday 110801

Possibly this could be the beginning of the ending…

OTOH…. (You long time webcasters know that means “On The Other Hand”) – saves a few keystrokes….

[The beginning of the ending for me means definitely no twittering!]  Oh Why?  One may ask…

Well, the fact seems to be I can’t communicate anything within a limit of 140 characters… or whatever the ‘Twitterheads’ think is appropriate. Our American – USA communication even now is too truncated… we’re hampered by increasingly short attention spans… In fact I feel one coming on right now….

Ulup… see…I hadda quit. Plum fergot where I was or what I was gonna say…

OH yeah… I ‘member now.

It’s just that some of us of an elderly nature and span… well… we get behind a keyboard… or a Mike.. [my wife says I’m always trying to fill up ‘dead air’ – a left over from my adlibbing radio days.]

So you see what I’ve been driven to.  Writing scripts. Next thing you know they’ll be wanting me to wear make-up for the candid camera. (L) Nope…nope…. That’s why I like radio.

When I got out in the ‘real world’ after being occupied in radio from 1949 until around 1963…when we moved away and I took a job where my typing had to be printed… and I had to spell and punctuate correctly… well… it was a *real* change. In radio we don’t care how it’s typed… or whatever… just as long as it’s pronounced correctly.  Well.. I dunno… in *today’s* radio… I don’t think that counts for much either. And apparently nothing can be put on the air without a music background… except me. (L)

Anyway – We’re here at the beginning of a new month… and a new leaf… and some cooler weather…

I’m not sure I could master one of those ‘tablets’ – I can hardly make do with my wife’s ‘notebook’ and I hate a touch pad…I’m always draggin a finger across it and messing up the page. I’m stickin’ with my PC – desktop for now… I don’t want to be carrying anything biggern’ a cell phone.

Well… enough griping for a Monday.  Glad you were here with us.  Just let’s DO remember to pray for our representatives in Washington – that they will look to the Lord for guidance… and do HIS will!

Cordially, IN HIM

Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”

WHEN THE TUMULT AND THE SHOUTING DIES…

Just a Minute: Ohio’s Speaker Boehner probably has “inside” problems. When you’re the leader quite often there are others who want to move up. That could be the case with another Buckeye Rep. Jim Jordan – who heads the Republican Study Committee, a large caucus of House conservatives. Mr. Boehner wasn’t pleased about reports of two RSC staffers lining up GOP opposition to his bill.

The media have playing up supposed tensions between, Virginia’s Eric Cantor -- Majority Leader -- and Boehner. However The Columbus Dispatch reports the Speaker and other GOP members are planning to dice up Jordan’s district (along with that of Democrat Dennis Kucinich) and resolve Ohio’s loss of two electoral seats.

The Speaker says both Jordan and Cantor are his allies and they’re all friends – but sometimes they do disagree on strategy. Reporters are always looking for a backstage fight. They report two committee staffers trying to round up opposition to Boehner’s bill. You know – we, at home, can exert our influence by our prayers for harmony and the Lord’s will. <>I’m Jack Buttram.
