Whew! Finally! We got ‘em to shut up about the bi-partisan debt ceiling and no new taxes….
But it turns out some folks don’t think it’s such a great deal after all… and I tend to agree with ‘em. Thing is we were all so happy to see the subject changed….
Except that we have the whole of the remainder of this year and most of the next before we can attempt to lay this whole mess to rest. And we think we are tired now…
Well… The old saying… “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” Seems more true now than ever.
Reading the highly developed stories from behind-the-scenes gets one to seeing there’s a lot more going on that meets the eye… or the ear for that matter.
I think I got quite a different fix on what’s going on in the Boehner camp between Mr. Cantor and those in the Republican caucus he’s in second-command for.
He has a lot of experience in the office of the previous congressman from the 7th district of Virginia and obviously ‘knows the ropes’ of what works in the House and what doesn’t. Various parts of the main stream media seemed to try and drive a bit of a wedge between Boehner and Cantor… unsuccessfully it seems. They obviously have different styles but are close enough in ideology apparently to not let egos get in the way of the cause.
And there’s a long, LONG trail a-winding until we get to the end of this year… and another till we get through the nomination contest of next year… and THEN the campaign… Makes me tired even thinking about it. But it IS ESSENTIAL that the Republicans think about it and get with the program.
Reading another couple of ‘think pieces’ in large newspapers gives me information that keeps me from being too much in my former error zone of ‘finding the evidence I’m looking for.’ What’s needed to be a *good* crystal ball gazer is a clear vision of what’s really happening instead of what I think I want to happen. I’ve found my tendency to fall off the cycle comes at that point. If I *want* something to come about … I’m unknowingly inclined to weight it more heavily than it should be. That swings me over to the incorrect side as far as results go.
But enough of this inside talk. We are going to have such a LONG way to go to get through the election process of 2012… I can’t help but dread it. Suppose the major leagues played all year round… or football went from midsummer to midsummer… (well maybe it already does.)…
Take it easy with the politics – there’s always more where that came from!
Cordially, IN HIM
