Hey… we’re on the downhill side of the week now – but still hot.
Well… today’s JUST A MINUTE deals with getting the Congress to come back and fix the FAA so people can get back to work on rebuilding the control towers and all can be safe. They all ran out of town when the President *forgot* that there was something left to do that needed to be done.
OK here we are – looks like we’ve had the wool pulled over our eyes again. According to some stories the base-line calculations which were supposed to create the $1.2 Trillion in savings etc… over whatever period of time… are rather ephemeral. That is the baseline on which they were calculated come up short of the goal… and that’s likely to be the case all the way through 2012… Grrrr… That’s not the pig we thought we were buying….but it was in the polk…so we should have been forewarned.
I would have thought our team caught it – and perhaps they did and we just weren’t listening. So… we’re going to have a chance to do it all over again apparently. Things are – from all I can tell… just worse. But I’m willing to be *shown* otherwise. Right now I’m just thinking we’ve been horn-swaggled.
OH well… fool me once shame on you – fool me twice shame on me. I’m none too happy about it… and I want our number crunchers etc. be on the lookout for these slick artists to quit it.
So right now I’ll let it ride… but let’s be double sure next time folks that we don’t have a huge horse-fly in the soup.
OK… enough for now folks. It’s OK to unroll your NEWSWEEK and read. Just keep it as a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. See you tomorrow.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack
“JUST A MINUTE”
HARDEST PLAY TO MAKE – GET A HIT
Just a Minute: I ran across a challenging quote yesterday –"The hardest thing to do in baseball is to hit a round baseball with a round bat, squarely." – Ted Williams, Boston Red Sox, Champion hitter.
I played catcher on my high school team. They were hard put for players. I was never really good at the game. I thought of that the other afternoon when the President signed the debt ceiling extension bill. We pay a lot of people a lot of money to run our government for us – but they’re not very good at it.
It’s been just about a year ago when NEWSWEEK, a Washington Post owned magazine changed hands for one dollar. Turns out they were not very good at it – at least that’s what they say at TIME.
Now we’re headed for the next battle, the President’s calling for Congress to come back to DC and fix it so the FAA can run the skies again and airplanes can be safe. Looks like we’re still not very good at it. Folks – we’d better get better at it… We need prayer – and more prayer. <>I’m Jack Buttram. (END)
