THE PRESIDENT HAS MISSED HIS CALLING -- for JUST A MINUTE Radion Tuesday 110712

We are certainly in the heat of summer. When I looked at the digital thermometer at 8PM the other evening… it was still 82 F… that’s still hot by my lites.

So… I was looking to cool off. And I just don’t find Mr. Obama’s attempts at joking or humor to be very… well… cooling.  In fact they tend in the other direction. So I assumed perhaps he’s feeling the heat himself from the way the 2012 election is shaping up. And being a relatively young and vigorous fellow perhaps he’s looking for another career – like say Bob Hope… combining comedy with Golf.

Why do I say that?  Well just yesterday he was making jokes in the WH press briefing room… part of what he said is on today’s JAM (Just A Minute) and perhaps you’ve caught it yourself.  You remember when Bush 43 said something about his mother urging him to ‘eat his broccoli?’  Well… Mr. Obama stepped into the vegetable garden yesterday when he admonished the Republicans and all who don’t fully agree with him that it’s time to “eat your peas.”

I don’t know how that suits your appetite… I happen to like peas… black eyed peasEnglish peasbutterbeans – or lima beans – I know they aren’t peas… but when grandma picked ‘em fresh out of the garden and blanched them in a pot of hot water on top of the old cast iron cook stove… put a big slab of slightly salted butter on ‘em as they were dished up at dinner time… they were Goooood! (As Andy used to say before he became a liberal democrat.) Anyway I got an idea Mr. “O” – being the perspicacious fellow he is – is casting about for something that will keep him in the spotlight and from having to work too hard writing (or making up) more biographies – since he’s already come up with a couple of versions… it might be difficult.

So – I think he’s been trying out various ideas – sort of surreptitiously so you wouldn’t notice (and you wouldn’t from what he’s used so far) of what it might be like to work just on Saturday evenings… like if he could gin up a regular slot on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”  He’d probably have a bit of a problem with the age group they are aiming at… but tolerant and wide-minded liberals ought to be able to take in a sort of ‘over-the-hill’ teen ager – cool guy—and golfer.

Oh… so you don’t think I’m hitting the correct note, eh?  Well… I’ll give it some more thought.  Drop me a note and tell me what you ‘really’ think.

Cordially, IN HIM

Jack

   “JUST A MINUTE”

THE PRESIDENT HAS MISSED HIS CALLING

Just a Minute: Now we have two of the most comedic lines ever televised – and even more are yet in the oven. First, when the President was asked yet again, in a current campaign ad, “Where are the ‘shovel-ready’ jobs?” His chuckling reply was: “Well, I guess they weren’t quite so ‘shovel-ready.’” – And the audience howled.

Oh, WOW – what a knee slapper! I’m sure the guys out in the muddy ditches were just bent over laughing.  And in yesterday’s matinee news conference when he suggested how “little juice” he thought a correspondent questioner might have with the Republicans; he got a big guffaw from the assembled Washington news gang.  Once more he just about bent the needle on the laugh meter.

Oh, we’ve obviously missed the true capabilities of the Haa-vaad, via Chicago “Obama-lad” who got his early training in Hawaii – or Malaysia – we’re not sure which. In any case we need to reevaluate his talents. Obviously he’s not succeeding in selling “Obama Care” -- for which he volunteered.

Maybe this is a dry-run try-out for a permanent slot on “Saturday Night Live?”
