Tis the end of the week once again ---
And I’m devoutly wishing we’d get over these things. We seem to stop all the wars (three of them – ‘count ‘em) while we see people do silly things in Wisconsin, and filing cabinets keel over again in Japan – Iran fires up it’s centrifuges – Germany and the rest of Europe including the British Isles pull in their horns a good bit and Portugal’s pleas for a ‘bailout’ fall on ears that don’t support hearing much more for fear they are losing their own mojo.
I’m glad it’s Spring. The flowers blooming here in the upstate already – and even the dandelions look cheerful even if I know they are pesky weeds. (I did read a New Englander’s recipe this week suggesting fresh green dandelion leaves go well in the spring making delicious salad. Hmmm…OK I’ll take your word for it – at least it’s better than getting more bad news from around the world.)
Watching the ground shake in
It’s winding down – the school year -- now. And exams to be given and taken – plans made for the coming year. Budgets figured and re-figured because of our changing economic circumstances – and we seem to be attending another friend’s funeral from one day to the next. Sickness and death play a very common theme – being inconvenient!
While there is an immediate pang and pain from the separation which ensues from illness and the end of life – at the same time, for those who have placed their trust in Christ it is a triumphant time – even though for a relatively short time (they say) we will be rejoined with loved ones who’ve gone on before. The sadness that hangs over us sometimes comes out of the unfulfilled expectations when we had hoped to speak more winsomely to friends who had spurned the invitations to trust in the Lord for salvation. We saw a real rejoicing in a part of Africa – Liberia to be specific – where there have been wars and hardship and very difficult times resulting from mis-administration by government and people entrusted with responsibilities – who have responded to the lures of personal gain, or wealth or other temporal attractions to their own detriment – but more sadly to those for whom they held responsibility.
I dare not think on that too much or I will tend to lose the *joy* of belonging to my Heavenly Father – and rejoicing in the family the Lord has given me both my own and for many acquaintances. Here in our country we are blessed beyond measure – and we really cannot easily put ourselves in the difficulties of many many millions who live in circumstances of hardship and difficulty. Nonetheless – may I say the Lord is MY shepherd – and go on to recount mentally ALL the blessings that are manifold IN HIM. Praise the Lord.
Well… better quit for this week. God bless you and your family and friends. He is willing if you are!
Cordially, IN HIM

WILL
Just a Minute: The forecasts are mixed on the legislative wrestling match – But Will Rogers’ had a few timely observations -- he said:
“Democrats never agree on anything, that's why they're Democrats. If they agreed with each other, they’d be Republicans.” – Also noting, -- "The more you observe politics, the more you've got to admit each party is worse than the other." Adding: “Politics has become so expensive it takes a lot of money just to get defeated.” – See, "…A fool and his money are soon elected."
Last week he’d say: "Congress is awful strange; a man gets up to speak, says nothing, nobody listens, then everybody disagrees."
The President could take comfort in: "The Senate just sits and waits till they find out what the president wants, so they know how to vote against him." Probably Sen. McConnell, figured got that figured out handling health care – it’s called ‘sandbox politics.’
