EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT *ISN'T* GOING TO HAPPEN -- FOR JUST A MINUTE Radio Friday 110415

Great to have you here on a FRIDAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!

I’ve been waiting all week with a smile on my face. Until it was wiped off late yesterday when I found out  AF-ONE flew out of Washington to Chicago with ONE (Count ‘em – ONE ) political passenger on board for which his campaign was charged the equivalent of one (count ‘em – one) first class ticket from Washington to Chicago.  That means a round trip that cost the USA (we who are taxpayers) approximately $600,000 smackeroos right out of our pockets will be ‘reimbursed’ by the funds donated to the Obama re-election campaign in the amount of $1355 includes refreshments etc. – Isn’t that considerate of “The Boss” to take his own private 747 with an Air Force supplied crew so he can go out and chat with his cronies in the Windy City about his coming campaign.  How nice of us! (J)

Well… it just feeds into the hopper of being discontented with Mr. President from the git-go… I admit it. I just cannot understand how he can swallow down the things he says at government expense and put it all on the tax payers’ back in good conscience. I will be restrained and simply say it’s irritating. I also hope it’s remediable.  But we shall have to wait till November 2012 to find that out and January of 2013 to see the back of him as he leaves.

I’d better not utter any more or my emotions will slip their reins.

Meantime we as a nation will flounder with this incompetent crew sailing the ship of state… until they are all ‘dumped out.’  For their sakes – I’m glad we do not have the kind of expression of public opinion that’s being utilized in the countries around the Mediterranean.  You see Mr. Mubarak being holed up in a hospital treating his supposed heart condition.  I think he and others like him should pray they do not have to experience the kind of justice meted out to Mr. Chouchescu in Romania or other Iron Curtain countries when they ‘throw off the yoke’ and administer their own brand of firing-squad justice. I just find myself in prayer for our nation more often than I can recall even in the times as a young person during WWII when we underwent practice ‘Black-Outs’ so  the Germans, Japanese or Italians wouldn’t bomb us or sink our ships in the harbor as they did in Hawaii.

I am reminded of an old saying – which today we abbreviate into “What goes around comes around.” – But in earlier days it was:  “The mills of the gods grind slowly – but they grind exceeding small.”  I don’t know if that’s exactly quoted correctly… but it does express the feelings that circulate not too far under the surface and which almost any evening now you can see the resentments that have been built up slowly over the years in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Jordan, Ivory Coast, and multitudinous other places – when people are denied the freedoms they are now coming to expect – there can be a pent up blast of emotion hard to control or confine. It is all the worse for being delayed in such fashion as people – unsaved people – look for a place or mode of ‘payback.’ Sad to say – but such is the condition, what we may call the ‘human condition’ in these days.

Warnings, however, go unheeded.  The dictators who perhaps at one time, their improvements in getting the trains to run on time, or make other conditions better never seem to think about the backlash and ‘getting even’ which results from a dictatorial regime overstaying its term. Then things begin to multiply in an exponential fashion.

Well… I should be getting to bed for this week. WE pray you’ll have a profitable weekend – and a worshipful Sunday.

Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”

EVERYBODY KNOWS WHAT ISN’T GOING TO HAPPEN

Just a Minute: One of the great things about American politics is almost everybody has a theory but only one will be right. It’s foolhardy at this point to try and pick out who will be the next president. Still everyone is attracted -- like throwing three darts for 50 cents at the county fair and winning a Teddy bear. Even Donald Trump might win.

Forecasting a winner this far ahead of actual campaigning finds things as chancy as it gets. So, talk with someone who ‘knows the end from the beginning,’ who can guide your word and thought putting your dart right on the money.

So I’ll mix my metaphors and reach in the magic hat, pull out a name -- see how things work out. Oh, right before starting to write today’s program, I read an economist’s forecast of only a 1.7 percent growth rate which will jinx Mr. Obama’s race.

Since everything is so confusing – I pull out the white slip -- it reads former Minnesota Governor, Tim Pawlenty.

Let’s see how you do.   <> I’m Jack Buttram (END)
