Whew! – I can tell we’re getting close to Christmas… the days are just zipping by.
And I seem to be slippin’ by slower and slower. I used to be able to research and write and record and post these items in less than three hours… now it often stretches out more! I know it’s not a lack of material… I guess, indeed, that’s part of the problem. There’s so MUCH stuff to sort out and it comes in so many different ‘wrappings’ I feel like I’m standing on a slippery grassy knoll and going to tumble head over heels soon…
Maybe it’s the new glasses that have been prescribed. Ever since I’ve been to college – which is now more than 61 years ago -- I’ve had questions about my eyesight – although I never really had a problem until I gained the ripe old age of 39 and began to need some ‘readers.’ I thought it would make me look … well erudite. It just increased the speed of looking aged. L
Now, two cataract operations… a histo-plasmosis laser operation and miscellaneous slight retinal tear repairs later – I’m doin’ fine… I just can’t find my glasses. I keep getting these that must have been made for someone else.
Nah… my wife tells me I’m just being picky – and I know she’s right… I just like to be able to see clearly where I’m going and the prospect of getting there – upright or not tripping over something. I guess I should have gotten a clue when both my Mom and Dad had to get glasses – bifocals as I recall… When I started getting serious about flying – and getting there – I ended up with tri-focals… to see the distant scene… the instruments and then the charts… all required different lenses… (and to complicate matters one eye’s acuity was better than the other – so that made another factor in the soup.) Well… I don’t complain…
I guess I do complain… what’s been going on for the past two paragraphs otherwise. I’m just (as I said) picky… and I suppose at this advanced age… pushing back against the inevitable. J So… I’d better shaddup… and get to bed… no sense griping into the night. I’m thankful for how things have worked out so far. Please excuse the garrulousness (fancy word for runnin’ off at the mouth… but it gives the place a little class.)
Be with us here again tomorrow when the whole gang comes through the door – they’re a lot of fun.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
THE ‘PEOPLE’S HOUSE’ IS CHANGING THE LANDSCAPE
Just a Minute: This week the Republicans will be choosing new House Committee chairmen. They will be a big factor in whether the Lower House will be able to get anything done or be gridlocked. If you’re a political fan watch those election results closely.
Here’s a bell-weather case – Joe Barton, 61, the Representative of Texas’ 6th District – the
He’s been in the House eighteen years and has been ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He’s been e-mailing fellow GOP’ers and new congress members burnishing his credentials.
He’s a doer not an observer – if the White House was hoping for a go along to get along guy – he’s not your man. Barton asked the current Chairman, Henry Waxman, feisty representative of
The road ahead looks somewhat rocky.
