Once more we start a new week… and when we get to this point, weeks whirr by like a mower…
Thursday is THANKSGIVING DAY – and deadlines get more confused than usual. *I* get more confused than usual… so please be patient! We’re having family company… and I’m sleepy already… I’ve already had two pieces of pumpkin pie. I have to cut down.
Speaking of cutting down… we were required by our homeowners insurance people to trim back branches overhanging our house.
Nobody said anything when we signed up and paid the premium three years ago… where did all this anti-green peace idea come from. The word is they are trying to cut down their exposure to roof and house damage. I’ve got no complaint with that *except* someone should have told me at the commencement of the contract. As you know the standard comeback is: “it’s in there somewhere – you just have to understand the fine print.”… doesn’t make me happy.
When I asked about either a reduction in the premium or some help with the tree surgery fees… I think they barely stifled a laugh. So… maybe I’ll be in the market looking either for a new insurance company or some kind of super good tree worker… who is compassionate… (I think I’ve found one of those.)
Peggy Noonan seems to be slightly softer in her critical view of George W. Bush now that he’s out of office for almost two years. I guess he’s feeling good about book sales. --- And the Presidential Library he broke ground for last week. Funny thing… in my travels around the
Looks like I’m running out of space too. Maybe I’ll just take the rest of the week off… NO? No say no pay? That seems well, very fair. That’s the way all the holidays passed when I was in regular daily broadcasting. – Hey – that’s what I’m in now. How did I get in this time warp.
Thanks for being with us… and we’ll be here (DV) the rest of the week too.
Cordially, IN HIM

“JUST A MINUTE”
PEGGY NOONAN BREATHS LIFE INTO THE TWO YEAR CYCLE
Just a Minute: -- Peggy Noonan, former Dan Rather acolyte, later speechwriter for Reagan and currently best seller author and Wall St. Journal contributor, lost her sympathy for George W. Bush in the middle of his second term. Now she writes the tidal wave that hit the Obama Administration may revive Conservatism to its “sense of mission.”
She writes: “Every four years we say, 'This is a crucial election,'… But 2012 will seem truer than most.” She guesses only a president has the gravitas and apportioned power to unite the nation (quote) “In pursuit of a larger good.”
It’s difficult to tell right now if a Republican can get everyone to work together. The Tea Party people have a new a taste of power likely to go to their heads, their critics think. Peggy believes it’s possible for everyone to recognize a rising tide… but picking the right wave is tricky. Obama may have nowhere to go but up – but the specter of Jimmy Carter hangs in the background.
