OH NOBODY KNOWS THE TRUBBLE WE'S IN -- For Just A Minute Radio - Tuesday 101102

            Welcome to Election Day 2010 – it shall pass this way no more! [Praise the Lord!

 

            Finally THE day has arrived. I’m sure it will not depart quietly… we shall have remnants hanging around like … well like ‘chads in a Florida November’ wondering if they are ever going to depart. But *perhaps* something was learned ten or twelve years ago. After all we are supposed to be the most intelligent species… (if you happen to be an evolutionist – I guess).

 

            So here we are and by eight tonight we’ll still be sitting like ‘birds in the wilderness – waiting for the word’ –

 

            But let us pray that shortly after that the returns will roll in, the squabbling die down – and in a day or two we can settle down for a long winter’s nap – or at least a fall nap. (J)

 

            By the time you read this your faithful correspondent will have been responding to the 5 AM alarum clock to get to the polling place to help the clerk set up the machines, arrange the crew, post the signs etc. and prepare for the opening of the poll by 7AM on the dot…

 

            Then the day will be filled with questions… recalcitrant machines, walking back and forth to get things accomplished… pausing for a snack between customers and moving on until the conclusion at 7PM sharp… whereupon there may be standing in line until the last vote is cast… the tallys taken out of each machine, carefully and dutifully posted… phoned in to HQ… and the machines and supplies safely returned for the next go ‘round’ in a year or two.  

 

            It promises to be a LOOOOOONG day… so I’m hitting the sack to get up in less than five hours. If you come to my voting station and see me dozing… just waken me gently please. (J)

“JUST A MINUTE”

OH NOBODY KNOWS THE TRUBBLE WE’S IN…

          Just a Minute: -- 540 years before Christ, Belshazzar, a Chaldean ruler, threw a huge feast celebrating his supremacy. He and his court quaffed wine from golden vessels purloined from God’s Temple.  Suddenly, a disembodied hand appeared writing in Belshazzar’s banquet hall, words which no one could read.

The impounded prophet Daniel, was summoned, promised extravagant gifts for interpreting the words. He refused the rewards -- but informed the King the miraculous hand had written: “Thou art weighed in the balances and found wanting.” That very night he learned God IS supreme and puts down or lifts up whom He wills.  Darius the 62 year old Midianite slew the king and took over his kingdom.

It’s all clearly laid out today – in detail, in the Old Testament book of Daniel chapter five. You should look it up. You may readily see God still arranges the affairs of men – whom He puts up and whom He puts down  -- according to HIS will. Let this, dear friends relieve your anxiety as you put your trust in Christ the redeemer.
