It sure is Monday all right…and I’m sleepy. This is going to be a busy week with long days.
So… I’m trying to wrap it up early now and get to bed – before getting up early in the morning.
I hope you’re as tired of this election as I am. Oh yes… it’s exciting because it’s suspenseful. We all wondering if everyone else is wondering what we’re wondering about it. And of course it’s true.
I checked a bunch of front pages to see if they had anything new – and aside from some additional scraps of gossip or last minute accusations – mud slinging and the like – I didn’t find anything earth-shaking. And that’s hard to do because there *was* some earth shaking less than an week ago… and further tidal waves in Indonesia that killed more people. So let’s join in prayer for them.
There was a very interesting thing I ran into during my weekend reading. An article speaking of the current state of journalism and various other things in the offing… which got into the idea of “objective” truth. Objective truth… which one might call ‘pure’ truth… i.e. that it is so obvious there is no questioning it – like… “water is wet” – well then someone comes along and ruins the discussion with the question “How do you define wet?” Arggggh….
In any case in the development of this article this idea came out: If you say there’s no such thing as objective truth – you have to exclude what you have just said about objective truth if you’re going to have any place to argue from – otherwise you have just cut the ground out from under your statement. Well… you can see where that is leading.
“If everything is true – then nothing is true.” So… why am I even considering this?
I’m writing this too late at night to follow through with where this leads… but it is a very interesting line of thought to contemplate… and I’m so glad we who believe the Bible are able to stand on the testimony of God’s word to the fact that when Jesus said: “I am the way the TRUTH and the light…” He was saying something irrefutable and of great substance on which I can stand and with my Lord maintain the truth exposed and proclaimed in God’s Word.

“JUST A MINUTE”
EVERYBODY’S LOOKING BOTH WAYS BEFORE CROSSING
Just a Minute: -- Your mother told you to look both ways before crossing the street? That’s the mood today -- both parties joined the TEA party -- with fingers crossed.
Scott Rassmussen, about the most independent major pollster, says the numbers back last January were about the same as they are today – The GOP was up by nine points then on the generic ballot which is just about the same as today. While local and individual races see-saw back and forth – it’s because, he thinks, the Republicans have no unified leader who emphasizes the issues of jobs, holding down taxes and cutting spending – that’s what a BIG majority of voters say they want.
So I’ll be brave, stick my neck out and say I hope that’ll happen because the incoming anti-Obama tide will be far larger than anyone’s forecast up to now. Pollsters will try to claim credit before the end of the week – and if I’m wrong, I won’t be any worse off than I am already. (J) So tomorrow just lean back and say that’s what you thought would happen.
