Hello everybody – it’s MONDAY (L) … uh oh…
Well, maybe this will be a better week. I’m sure the White House thinks so. – Or maybe *hopes* so… for the first time the President’s batting average goes into negative territory. Some have been reminded President Carter was pretty deep into the third year of his first and only term when he hit that ‘malaise’ patch …and the killer rabbit attacked him while he was out paddling around the farm pond… but then everybody has bad days.
Mrs. Sarah Palin is no longer Governor of Alaska – officially she stepped down yesterday and gracefully handed over the reins of government to the Lt. Gov. Most political pundits seem to think she’s made a BIG error. I don’t think so. I *know* she’s done the right thing putting her family first – and believe if she continues to trust the Lord, as all the evidence I’ve seen indicates she is doing that – the whole thing will work out for the very best for everyone concerned. (If anybody lacks confidence in that – have them read the Book of Esther – and if they still are concerned, add the book of Ruth to their immediate reading list.)
In any case, I continue to hear a little historical voice repeating way back in my subconscious -- “It may not be the beginning of the end – but quite possibly it’s the end of the beginning.” And being the irrepressible (mostly) optimist I am, as a Christian I believe the Lord put Winston Churchill at the helm in Great Britain at the crucial time – and Dwight Eisenhower in charge of the Normandy Invasion at a crucial moment, so we have indications in our own lifetime that God still intervenes in the affairs of men for accomplishment of HIS purposes. ”Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) So – we just need to stick to our knittin’ – and prayin’.
Everybody have a great week – we’re one day nearer HIS return.
Cordially, IN HIM
Jack

“JUST A MINUTE”
RUNNING OUT THE STRING
Just A Minute – Suddenly it’s news that President Obama appears to have misjudged the nation’s mood. His approval rating has fallen below 50 percent and we’ve never seen him defeated publically before. In one press conference he managed to lose the entire nation’s police force.
Peggy Noonan, having given George Bush the back of her hand the last couple of years, has now got Mr. Obama in the cross-hairs. Let’s see how straight she shoots. She says: “His news conference the other night was … filibustery and spinny and [he] gave … answers that seemed aimed at … running out the clock. … More seriously, he didn’t seem to be telling the truth…” Hmmm.
She defines the problem as the public mood has changed from ‘demanding change’. Other pundits say it’s a case of ‘fool me once – shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me!’
Jimmy Carter proved a majority of Americans don’t wish to be described as stricken by malaise: while even Abraham Lincoln knew you can’t fool all the people all the time.
